We were in Walmart a couple of days ago and came across a young Scottish lad, who is out here working for one of the mobile phone companies.

He happened to mention that he is a rag, so I took great delight in pointing out that we've finished above them for the last four seasons and five of the last six, to which he replied that we've spent a lot of money.

I laughed and said, "Yeah, and you lot have never spent any. Most expensive player ever. Most expensive teenager. Most expensive defender."

"Well, at least we've got a great youth team," he replied, so Mrs Vienna told him, "That's nothing to shout about. We hammered you at every level last season "

He didn't know what to say after that.

I'm honestly not sure if their ambition goes further than top four at the minute.

I think you're right. They are very rapidly becoming the Liverpool of the 90s/noughties. Champions league is a must for them. Failing to qualify for it 2/3 of the last seasons has seen them fall so far behind us and Tottenham. Unfortunately, mourinho is a master at cup competitions and could see them winning the champions league this season

I know it's late but you can't seriously think they'll win the chumps? It's not full of Lithuanian plumbers like the Europa you know.

He can still win it by just playing boring, negative shite football and boring the opposition to death. He's got previous with winning the competition this way.

Even so he had a good team with Cambiasso, Sneijder and Eto'o. I don't see him doing the same with the shite he has at his disposal at the swamp.

Porto were the underdogs: not many thought they'd win it. It's different with the rags, the weight of expectation will be heavy on the shoulders of Maureen, or indeed whoever is in charge there. Given the money the rags have spent (yet again) there can be no excuses for Peg if they fall by the wayside throughout the next campaign - and I strongly believe they will do.
We're in a great position with our owners and Pep because we have time, the world and his wife can see we're building something, and that huge success will come sooner rather than later. Not so for 'Moaning Maureen & The Mibs', they have to deliver NOW in order to stay relevant.

Quick edit for you.

The team he won it with Porto wasn't the best in the world.
And who did they beat? Monaco in the final, the mighty Deportivo in the semi's, Lyon in the quarters and United in the first knockout, after coming second to Real in their group. Probably the easiest run in the history of CL winners. Even then they scraped through every round playing hideous stuff. The odds of Maureen getting that lucky twice is pretty unlikely, especially with the way the CL has changed.

Seriously.
A scum manager getting lucky draws would never happen would it

The mighty Deportivo who had knocked out the previous year's finalists, Juve and Milan. Yes, Mourinho just stifled them in his usual tedious manner but it's a bit harsh to belittle Deportivo that season.
