I’d known about Davies and Gibson (unlike most rags I mention this to) but I hadn’t realised the debt gamble made at this time. I’d always thought that the investment at this time had come from the stock market floatation?

That followed - if you remember the Michael Knighton takeover was happening in Sept 89 (one of the main reasons why MUFC didn't sack Fergie - forget all this rewriting of history now saying how the board were patient and supportive; the board were in chaos not knowing who should make the decisions). The floatation was a desperate (but profitable in the end) act to bring income in after the Knighton takeover fell apart and the Stretford End rebuild needed funding.
