United thread 2018/19

The old Mourinho probably would have. The problem he has now is that Pogba, for his marketability as much as anything, probably holds more sway in the corridors of power at Old Trafford than his manager.
Certainly anything that threatens a potentially appreciating asset would come a very poor second to their owners.
So important to exaggerate anything that approaches a positive.

I doubt that very much, tbh. There’s no way United want their dirty linen aired in public. Why would they?!

Pogba either doesn’t care as he wants out, or is willing to test who the board value more out of him and the manager.

Has to be awkward for Mourinho though. He gave Pogba the armband in an attempt to placate him, and is now being being undermined publicly by his own captain. For a man with Mourinho’s ego that will rankle badly, yet he probably knows that sanctioning Pogba (by far their best outfield player) is a gamble too.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out, but as a Blue it’s great to see such open disharmony at United.

Yeah, agree with all of this. There's no way it was green lit by the hierarchy. I doubt Pogba even has access to the men above and I don't see them communicating with players, Nevermind asking players to undermine the manager in public.

Having said that, i do get the feeling that he's almost speaking ob behalf of the changing room, as captain. It's almost as though he's vocalizing what their players must be thinking as the frustration increases at having to play defensive football.

As you said, it does make things sticky for Mourinho. If Pogba is echoing what a bunch of their players are feeling, rather than speaking as a lone voice, there's not much Mourinho can do.

I can't see Jose responding too much. He's worked hard to suck up to the fans recently. And the fans want attacking football. Tricky for him. Ideally he comes out and slags off Pogba for gifting Wolves a goal for being lazy in the middle. Fingers crossed

Those comments from Pogba are about as diplomatic as a sledgehammer. He could have easily made it all about the players' failings but he's very pointedly made it all about the manager and his tactics. It makes for great reading.

I think it's a reaction to Mourinho constantly blaming the players and deflecting blame from himself. You get the sense that it was building to a head and this last match might have been the point at the players decided that enough was enough.

The carnage that will surely ensue is delectable. Let's grab popcorn and watch this unfold.

He already did that. This was Pogba's response.

Cant wait for Mourinho next press conference :)

Lets hope someone will ask him “ As a manager of the club, how does it feel to be undermined by the captain that you chose ?”

Proper fans, season card holders,I know aren't happy.Their situation pretence over the past few seasons is finally coming to end.....the pitchforks are being readied and the knives sharpened. This could be very amusing!
