So if we say that top dollar players earn £250k per week and for the purpose of this exercise we'll say Sanchez is top dollar

That's £30M Signing on fee plus and extra £250k a week for FIVE years (£65M), plus they traded a £30M player and paid him off £7.5M to land Sanchez

That's £132M plus his top dollar £250k a week wages, or all together nearly £200M over the five years
In the post you quoted he says his wage is 505k a week on top of the signing on fees

They sold it to themselves by justifying the fact Sanchez would have probably cost £70m on the open market and would still have been forced to pay him circa £300k a week.

So basically, they just gave it all to Sanchez instead, which just shows you how desperate they have become in recent seasons.

De Gea is rightly now asking to be paid what he is worth.

Yeah remember Neville saying something like that and it was a bargain. ;))

And Mourinho is right, United probably can't afford to sack him at this stage, it's the best part of £30m they would owe him in severance.

He knows the fans are seeing the penny finally drop on Pogba, so is gambling they will have his back longer than that showpony.
Not so sure about the Pogba bit. I've not met a single Rag who has anything bad to say about him. It's all down to Mourinho.

Who can forget the juicy orange metaphor ?

Jose Mourinho used a fruity metaphor to explain Manchester City's apparent reasons for missing out on the signing of Alexis Sanchez.

City had looked to be the frontrunners to sign Sanchez from Arsenal this month, but it was United who secured the deal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving in the opposite direction.
It was reported that City withdrew their interest in Sanchez as they thought he was going to be too expensive.

But, speaking on Thursday, United boss Mourinho said: "I think Alexis reminds me a little bit of the history - I don't know, it's not a history, almost a metaphor - when you see the tree with amazing oranges at the top and cannot get there. You say: 'Oh, I got the lower ones because I don't like the ones at the top.

Paul Merson believes Mourinho would have not signed a contract extension at Manchester United if he didn't think he could catch Manchester City
"You like the ones at the top. They are so nice, so orange, so round, so full of juice but you cannot get there so you say: 'I don't want to go there' or 'I didn't like it, I prefer the other ones.' It reminds me of that story."
He added: "I know that if other clubs did not get him it's not a problem of money, for sure. That's not a problem of money."
Sanchez could make his Manchester United debut on Friday against Yeovil in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Was told Sanchez was on 710k a week before tax, which is quite frankly astonishing. I have absolutely no reason either to doubt the person who passed that on is wrong.

No wonder he's playing like he's fat Bob turning out for the dog and duck.
He has zero motivation, how could he on that amount of money.
Of course the press lapped it up and sugar coated it like it was quite alright for the obscene amounts.
Remember the skriking when it broke that Yaya was on 250k? It was all wrong as nurses and the NHS was on its arse.
Nish about this one.
