That would be so funny if it wasn't to close to the truth
I'd hazard a guess that the USA MCFC viewing figures are a drop in the ocean compared to the Far East and Asian mufc viewing figures. And yet, in recent years, Manchester City has been the most-watched Premier League side, at least in the USA.
If the Villa player had been facing the other way the Villa goal might have stood. As it was the ball was past him but he is still looking up the pitch with his back to the position of the ball. The rule states that the if the block prevents the opposing player from getting to the ball (in the opinion of the officials) then it's a foul. There was only a single person in the ground who thought Cavani was getting anywhere near the ball and that was OliVAR.
Aside from that the defender is standing still and Cavani just runs in to him and throws himself to the floor, so how is that the defenders fault?
Not all blocks will be called. The blocking player has to have been in an offside positionVAR has set a precedent now that all blocks from free kicks and corners that result in a goal will be disallowed. Look at the one I think Ake scored recently where Dias blocked off a defender and one or possibly two of the goals against Leicester were from blocks.
Cavani was in a poor position defensively and wouldn't have got anywhere near his man. There was also another block in the middle on Lindaflop. only difference is that he didn't go down screaming like a child. Villa had obviously worked on that free kick, only issue that they didn't take into account was VAR. Had they have been winning by two or three I suspect the goal would have been allowed. And of course the other issue is that VAR is only operating at PL grounds so if we had scored or conceded that goal against Swindon it would have stood. You can't have different laws for different teams in the same competition, it's so wrong.
I was going to make the same point, if he had been facing the other way and Cavani simply ran straight into the back of him and then threw himself to the floor would that have still been considered a foul?If the Villa player had been facing the other way the Villa goal might have stood. As it was the ball was past him but he is still looking up the pitch with his back to the position of the ball.
Very bottom of page mate....laughable isn't it.Have you got a source for that?
Did you see the coverage at HT where the camera started to pan round the stadium showing the upper tier in darkness where the producer clearly shat themselves and switched camera quickly before anyone noticed?
I wonder if it's on IPlayer?
Plenty of individuals operating VAR against Villa last night??…..I mean…well…there’s one and one ref.It doesn't have to be the FA helping them out. There are plenty of individuals in the chain who have an opportunity to stack the deck in their favour... and they do have over a billion fans so the chances of someone in the chain of events being a Rag fan is quite high.
