Update

Even tho we have got a lot of quality in as far as numbers go we are still short especially in midfield ..... our squad was quite small last season and having let go just as many as we have brought in we are still one of the smallest squads ..... With no RSC and Adebayor available for the weekend we have the unfit Tevez and Bellamy who has been struggling with his knee ..... then we have Benjani, in midfield we need 2 and another striker or injuries will set us back.

Happy with the players in but depth is a problem.

By chance I spent a part of the day this morning counting our squad and compared it with other's. We've got 27 players (exluded loaned out), senior players. This is around the same number as the scums.

We currently have 5 high-paid well established strikers, it would be madness to have more. We have 6 pure CM's, plus SWP and Zab who can cover there. We also have a decent amount of wingers, so if Petrov stays I don't agree we need more cover in midfielder.

Always been wary of this guy, seems to me he states the obvious AFTER hints from elsewhere, today's press conference MH mentioned that the JL deal could still be on and talks may continue, also said '' we want further strengthening to take place if we can (Lescott), if not, we go with what we've got''

watch the press conference on MCFC site and see/hear for yourself.

I watched the Hughes press conference this morning and standard transfer questions were rebuffed. We should all know by now Hughes keeps his cards very tight to his chest!! If you have been following this forum and SM's posts for a while (as I am guessing you did before you registered a month ago), you would have read SM's claim the deal was all agreed but for a signature. Where did Hughes state that today or in any other press conference?!?! If Spursmad has taken a hint from him please could you point out where exactly.

MH has never said the deal is 100% done apart from the signature, what i'm saying is, is that after MH said '' we want further strengthening to take place if we can (obviously meaning Lescott as he was refering to the defence), if not, we go with what we've got''

Few hours later SM posts one of 'his' updates, stating, after lescott signs (he aint gonna change his story now is he) we wont be in the market for anyone else.

I'm not trying to bruise SM status and burn him, he comes across as a nice, genuine guy, but to me he seems to be analyzing what is said, and posting his version of an update of the same information.

Hope that makes sense.

So if Ireland and Barry are out injured who plays in the middle ?

Sweep sucked when he played in the middle ........ we do not have a playmaker to back up Ireland yet we have 6 centerbacks .... and more of them to come.

Kompany and De jong in a 4-4-2, Johnson to cover, we could even pull off a flat 4-3-3 if needed

Toure can play CM too and Robhino could play playmaker role with Petrov on the left.

With everyone fit we have a very good squad now especially if we get Lescott. There woul dbe a few players in there that can give us options, Lescott, cb and LB, kompany cm and CB etc
