Sweep sucked when he played in the middle ........ we do not have a playmaker to back up Ireland yet we have 6 centerbacks .... and more of them to come.

yes mate but I assume the point would be that they would all be defensive CM and that we have no natural central attacking mid for if Stevie I gets injured

Also there is still hope that Johnson will be back eventually this season and so could play in midfield. I don't think we need any more players (other than a centre back).

In fairness, did Tevez not play the deep role against Celtic, when he came on? If it's a Liverpool/Englandesque
4-2-3-1, as opposed to a Chelsea/Barcaish 4-3-3, then the three berths behind the striker will be occupied by Tevez/Ireland/Robinho, with any of Bellamy/Petrov/Sweep/Weiss to cover. Any two of the usual DMs would sit behind.

Just playing devil's advocate like. I'd personally like to see another attack-minded midfielder signed.
