Urgent help needed

Switched on the pc and a message comes up saying its blocked by west Yorkshire police and to unlock it I have to pay £100 through something called ukash and if you enter the code wrong 3 times then all the hard drive will be completely wiped ! I know it's a scam as anybody come across this ? And how do I get rid of it ?

I can get it on safe mode I think ? We have macafee can I get to it through safe mode to do a check ? Just on ccleaner at the mo will that help ?

f8 when loading for safe mode ccleaner will do nothing as will mcafee as the trojan is hidden within the registry so need specific cleaner.

Managed to restart in safe mode and did a system restore to a previous date now on the web page link you gave and have downloaded Trojan killer do I now run the programme to get rid of it ?

if restored and can use in normal mode it should be fine as trojan not added but run it anyway just to check your system out. if anything pops up you can only delete 2 at a time as its a trial, so delete whatever comes up 2 at a time.

Ok it's running at the mo , when the trial period is up is it worth buying it and how much does it cost ? Have you got it and use it ?

2 weeks trial period, just keep downloading the trial, good for finding virus' but not the best for stopping them. up to you to buy it. glad you up and running again for you

Thanks again for the help i will take your advice on downloading the trial, if its not good at finding a virus what is ? i have McAfee but that obviously didnt stop it either.

depends on budget, bitdefender, NOD32, kaspersky, avg and Norton rated better. best bet is to Google the names and see which best suits your needs,
