US Politics Thread

Apart from all the legislation that explains who is and who isn't a British subject...

Nope, a subject is a foreign subject who can also be a citizen of another country. I know it's difficult for anti-monarchists to get their heads around but those are the facts.

Is a Canadian citizen a British subject?

After Confederation into a Dominion within the British Empire in 1867, Canada was granted more autonomy over time and gradually became independent from the United Kingdom. Although Canadian citizens have no longer been British subjects since 1977, they continue to hold favoured status when residing in the UK.

What is the difference between a UK citizen and a British subject?

Citizen of the UK and colonies (CUKC) A citizen of the UK and colonies was the old colonial status given to British citizens during the period 1 January 1949 to 31 December 1982. Before 1949, British citizens were called British subjects and in the modern day are referred to as British citizens.

As I've pointed out on another thread. 80 fuckin percent of Democrats are disagreeing with what Israel are doing militarily. An even bigger % in under 30's so why would you piss off pratically your whole base on such a major policy.

And yes I'm well aware Trump is a much bigger **** and threat to the world more than Biden is, But it still doesn't stop me wanting to call Biden an horrible bastard for what he's complicit in.
The US has supported Israel since c1930 (fundraising initially), you arent going to see them overturn that in a hurry.

Shouldn't he kinda do what 80% of his party want instead of sneakily sending more weapons over for Israel to carry on their Genocide.
As president he will never do his party’s bidding, but will do what he calculates will ultimately produce the best outcome for the world. You may think he is wrong but he has wider responsibility than US domestic politics. The US role in world politics is at the top of his M.E. agenda.

I may think it's wrong? The whole fuckin world thinks he's wrong as is pointed out when the Yanks Veto anything negative about Israel.

Anyone who thinks he's doing the right thing in continuing to send missiles over to massacre Children is an absolute ****.

Are you a diplomat by profession?

I can see why the confusion, Americans seem to think everything is about them :)
I'm truly shocked at that allegation. As I was under the impression they were an outward looking nation who start wars just far enough away not to be concerned about reprisals.

:)

You can be a British subject without being a citizen.

Did the 1948 Act (making us citizens) actually say we cease to be subjects?

"Every person who under this Act is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies ...
shall by virtue of that citizenship have the status of a British subject."
