Even long before last night's debate, listening to him at the rallies talk about windmills and boats and sharks and electrocution and Hannibal Lecter, etc; how can members not see that this is a sorry demise (of himself and the Party) and isn't going to win the hearts and minds of the regular Joe Shmo?

Why do the likes of Haley, Cruz, McConnell and Graham simply bow down to him?

What is the underlying reason?

Or is it quite simply about MAGA and, "Yep, he is the ONLY thing we have and we have nothing better"?

He has touched on the “nobody is giving you the love you deserve” to the tens of millions of uneducated, suburban and rural voters who have been left behind by technology, stock market ownership and the general post-pandemic improvements that have occurred.

He fawns over them, claims they are the “real American patriots” (which is how they’ve seen themselves since 1865!!) and, as a billionaire born with a platinum spoon in his mouth, uses straight face to tell them he is the only one who can help them!

He ACTS tough, and the movies have told them that’s what Murica needs, and he uses ALL the dog whistles that make them salivate.

Trump is a moron. Any mirror digger can see that! But, his sycophants understand the losers who have the same vote as everyone else and they hit their touch points!

What I will NEVER understand is his appeal to Republican women! He is both repulsive and a misogynistic boor, but the big hair brigade, with and without a buck to their name, seem to lap him up!?!?!

He was the least qualified President EVER in 2016. In 2024, we already know who he is, but the attention span (and knowledge base) of the average American is scary bad, especially compared with the educated cross section of fans on Bluemoon!

I’d venture that the average person on this thread knows more about this election, and esp DJT, than the average American voter…let alone the low info American!

If he wins, I’m not sure where America goes from there…and the world will suffer. Putin will have carte blanche in Ukraine, Iran will be emboldened in the ME, and China will laugh their asses off as they takeover the entire Pacific Rim.

Trump is a nationalist isolationist who thinks the military is to protect the west coast and the east coast, and the money saved should be refunded to the elite financial class in trillions in tax cuts!

The guard rails held up somewhat last time, but Project 2025 is all about controlling them and removing them where able, as presidential powers are expanded.

It’s scary shit, which is why he’s running from it NOW, but it’s their playbook for 2025-2029…and beyond!!

Young voters better wake the fuck up, because they’re outpacing old voters these days. If not, THEY will be the ones who will suffer the wrath he intends to spread!

The only part you skipped was why other politicians suck Trump’s dick.

And your answer — “It’s a cult of personality” — is the answer to why — because it is, those other politicians must pay him fealty or risk getting primaried by deeper-in-weeds MAGAs e.g. what happened to Liz Cheney (who is now btw actually campaigning for Harris).

Also Trump lies. And keeps lying even after being called out. He has and has never had a moral compass. Very hard to fight that if you do have one. And if you’re a cult leader, the cult believes and re-amplifies your lies until they become truths.

He also has a multi-billion dollar, national media organization that repeats his lies as facts to their low knowledge viewers in FOX.

It was no coincidence he name-checked a number of Fox commentators as people who will confirm his bullshit!!
