US Politics Thread

The most dangerous thing about the maga crowd is their success seems to be built on bitterness, hatred, and characterising the democrats as somehow stupid, evil and causing a huge divide in America probably not seen since civil war times.
Thankfully it seems democrats are much more sane and balanced.
It's over!!!! You are without a doubt the best poster on the political threads.

Lol

If it doesn't happen he'll just stay in office anyway and use his handpicked fascists in the military to murder anyone who has a problem with it.
Nazi death squads can be found on page 774, Project 2025. What is just as disturbing is the American Nazi's plan to replace Trump with Vladimir Putin. You can find that on page 800.

Hard to see how the Democrats lost so emphatically with such balanced and smug posts such as this one...
You do know the result wasn't as 'emphatic' as you've been led to believe, right? His margin of victory ranks as the 44th highest out of 60 presidential elections in American history. Harris threw it away rather than Trump winning.

Trump and his supporters are overplaying their hand. They clearly believe they have been handed a blank cheque.

He and the MAGA crowd do a lot of talking but I doubt that they will implement a fraction of what they say (and probably have no intention too either) look at it this way, the US economy is doing OK would you blow it up by putting massive tariffs on everything that would cause a massive inflationary spike? Is he going to allow the Vaccine Conspiracist to take on big pharma and big food when they finance so many republicans? More than likely they will sit back and take credit

I see it as all performative, it gets the hard of thinking riled up, and when it does not happen just blame the "Deep State" they fall for it everytime

100%. Deregulation for billionaire cronies most likely. Maybe a few more miles of wall and a more unfriendly approach to the southern border. There were 2 tower blocks in some state that had been 'taken over by immigrant crime gangs' iirc? A bit of low hanging fruit there for a bit of heavy handed national guard action and some deportations maybe.

The mass deportations could have a huge inflationary effect, I mean god forbid if businesses had to pay a fair wage for the crap jobs most immigrants do for them prices will skyrocket

While I agree about a lot of this being performative and mostly talk, let us not discount one aspect: Trump isn't especially good at gauging the consequences of his actions, and his advisor set is not the best and the brightest. It's entirely possible he could overstep and upset the economy (and first, the stock/bond market) meaningfully -- hence why I think the finger-pointing will end up at Jay Powell, who will do his level best to keep growth/employment/inflation balanced in the face of a more chaos-inducing economic agenda.

It's not that he isn't good at gauging the consequences of his actions, he just doesn't care. As long as he benefits (either directly or indirectly) that's all that matters. Aside from that, he learned from an early age that no matter how much he screwed up he'd be bailed out by his father. Nothing has changed. Someone will bail him out (remember 'we have all the money we need coming out of Russia'?) He rarely has to deal with the consequences of his actions and always blames everyone else but himself for his shortcomings.
