Interesting I'm banned from the Trump thread having read far worst stuff than I've ever put.
anyhow, the biggest problem we have is that Trump is being cheerlead by some of the richest and most powerful people on earth - Bezos, Musk and Zuckerberg. what hope is there for anyone else trying to stand up against these lot.
What did you say? Hope you didn't get banned for abusing me.

Funnily, i'm also banned from the Trump thread. I only wished him dead. I didn't say/encourage anybody to actually do it.
As you say, i keep reading way more comments saying far worse.
I think a moderator there has gone a bit power mad! (or doesn't understand dry ironic humour)
Is it worth contacting the site owner if i promise to stop wishing him dead? Trump, not the moderator!
(Just in case said moderator is reading, this is dry ironic humour)
The mods cant catch everything. So best you don't do anything silly or worth banning.

The 'But others did worse' is not a legitimate excuse. That said, Hope you are back soon.

One of the things we agree on.

Is he that ashamed of admitting his health is fucked that he's carried on the charade of doing his job for year longer than necessary?
Its a problem in Congress. Too many keep power and keep running for elections long after they should have retired.

There are at least about 10 that fit that profile. :(

I think he's a mod...
That would explain so much!

Being allowed back in the Trump thread probably won't be must use.
I have most of the Trump apologists on ignore, so i only get to see answers to quotes (and god there are so many). I would prefer to not even see those answers. Not sure why people interact. They aren't going to change their views.

Do they even know they are on ignore?

Had the chance to be a hero but flunked it because he wanted to settle some petty grievances with the Dem's.

Spineless coward.
To me, Mitch is driven by political ambition and blind loyalty to the Republican party. Mitch is all kinds of bad - but he doesn't strike me as vindictive.

Our news is obviously dominated by Trump at the moment but can I ask, what if anything of note are the democrats saying in opposition to what the fucking idiot is currently doing?

It feels like a deafening silence but that of course could be our media not representing what they’re saying?

Posted already in another thread... but this, for example:

Deafening silence is about the size of it. To be fair, Congress as a whole has done very little since Trump took office except confirm his nominees. There's a budget fight brewing but whether the Dems will use what leverage they have to shut down the government is unclear. I suspect they won't go that far, although in my opinion they should.

I'll give you the perspective of a right-leaning Independent in true blue Massachusetts - the only state where every single county voted for Harris.

It doesn't matter which Democrat is speaking - except perhaps for James Carville, or Pete Buttigieg - Democrats are refusing - as is their right - to change their minds about issues 1-10, rather they are continuing to insist their problem is a failure to communicate effectively / voters just don't understand us. They are playing the same old tunes (racist, phobias, fascist, sexist, stupid) and their protest behavior on-camera is as juvenile as Trumps and stars the usual suspects. Rage porn. Highly addictive. Also boring. Screaming every day about everything is not a winning strategy imo.

If you aren't seeing them as they "resist" it's because your media sources don't want people to see them and their "down for the struggle" actions. Have you seen who the DNC just elected to leadership? Ken Martin and David Hogg? Their election and the DNCs process was like some Saturday Night Live parody.

Then we have people like Seth Moulton and Pete Buttigieg who are trying to get Democrats to calm the fuck down and pick their fights wisely - it's not as if Trump isn't going to provide legitimate ammunition. They need to be patient.

I thought shutting down the government was Musk's job
