US/UK launch strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen

Well Big Joe Number 1, do you really know the names of all 16 of them?
Of the nineteen (including PM) there is only one I didn't know and that was the Minister without Portfolio - (Richard Holden) though I believe he is the person currently responsible for the Post Office.

I'm assuming in your 16 you weren't including the the Secretaries of State for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?

I reiterate my point, they are all sub standard and a waste of space... in my opinion.

Given they have been embroiled in a war for 9 years and have been bombed in excess of 25k times in that period I doubt the Houthis will even notice a few from us - its sole purpose was to give a floundering PM his "Thatcher moment" as they try and find something to improve their ratings

So which are we ditching then?

Foreign and Commonwealth
Home Office
Defence
Justice
Science Innovation and Technology
Levelling Up
Health and Social Care
DEFRA
Business and Trade
Energy Security and Net Zero
Work and Pensions
Education
Transport
Culture Media and Sport
Scotland
Northern Ireland
Wales

17 which excludes Treasury (Chancellor) and Prime Minister.... no point in debating the definition of a Secretary of State further, suffice to say they are all a waste of space in my opinion and yes I do know the names of all of them 80).

For those who believe that we shouldn't interfere with ship interceptions and attacks in the Red Sea.

This is the impact of that on your cost of living, logistical import costs have trebled in less than a month.

In a modern world someone must have a thought for the sake of merchant sea men just plying their trade to keep the world going?

Not the monetary value just the cost to these peoples well being?

So ignore drone attacks on Royal Navy warships and personnel then and instead, do the tin foil hat and claim it’s some Tory conspiracy again?

Thing I don't get with that theory is, we have zero appetite as a general population to have another conflict in the middle east. So it isn't a vote winner or a distraction if anything it is just more scrutiny.

Out of curiosity, why should Iran or anyone else align itself to the west if they do not want to?

You say Palestinians should absorb themselves in Israel, why shouldn’t Israel absorb itself in Palestinian state?
I'm not saying that Iran should align to the west, that's a problem for Iran. However, what I am saying is that we in the west of course should welcome alignment if it was possible, anything else would be idiotic foreign policy. How many of these countries are better off for not doing so? Do they have better human rights or democracy? No, they don't have any of those and they're far worse off, the poverty rate in Iran has increased massively over the last decade or two.

I'm not saying either that Palestinians should absorb into Israel. What I am saying is that Israel is an internationally recognised state and that must be considered. If it's a question of who absorbs who then you're essentially leading yourself down a path which assumes that one of either Palestine or Israel cannot exist. Such ideologies are precisely why Israel is likely nuclear armed and is armed to the teeth by the west.

I believe a state of Palestine should also exist by the way! However a state of Palestine must coexist with Israel but that is not the view of many in the Muslim world and it is definitely not the view of the main aggressors towards Israel which is Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.

Given the aggression around this it's completely unsurprising that the first action of the west is to protect itself and its interests. We can't exactly tell the Iranians to vote their Ayatollah out can we? So what do we do, just accept that a few dead sailors 1000 miles from Israel is the price of supporting Israel? No chance.

You have to remember that this is barely a conflict. We've launched 4 aircraft and bombed a handful of sheds in a field.

There's zero chance of boots on the ground or similar and this isn't about regime change or interference in Yemen. If the Houthis launch more attacks then they'll now face consequences and that's pretty much it.
