Rumours are circulating about the possibility that Sir Alex Ferguson may attempt to snap up Manchester City’s forgotten man Stephen Ireland this summer. The Man United boss has been linked with a move for the Irishman in the past and given the way Roberto Mancini’s side have managed in the last few weeks without the 23 year old is appears it may be very hard for the talented midfielder to find a way back into the Eastlands starting eleven.

Having had a tremendous season last term many expected Ireland to push on and further cement his place in the first team but a couple of niggling injuries and a lack of form has seen the Cork lad start just 16 Premier League matches this term.

Man United will of course find it hard to persuade their arch rivals to sell, especially as they are clearly no financial need to do so as the club appears to have a seemingly limitless wealth. If a move was made for Ireland though it would be very hard for the playmaker to not have his head turned by the interest shown by the Premier League champions.

The £14m rated midfielder will be keen to get first team football and may feel that in order to cement a regular starting spot he may need to leave Eastlands, however would he get a regular game at Old Trafford?

Is it utter tosh? They need a midfielder or two, he hasn't been first choice all season with us and it seems to be fairly well accepted that a few of the sky4 rate him. Mind you, they almost certainly couldn't afford him.

Tell the skint wankers to start the bidding at £30 million.ferguson coughs about "no value in the market" and feks off with his tail between his legs, his heart sinking knowing his only real saleable asset is Rooney.

Game over.

Man United will of course find it almost impossible to persuade their arch rivals to sell, especially to their arch-rivals and they clearly no financial means to do so as the club appears to have a seemingly limitless debt. If a move was made for Ireland though it would be doubtful that the playmaker would have his head turned by the interest shown by the ex-Premier League champions.

The £30m rated midfielder will be keen to stay and fight for his starting spot at Eastlands.

That's better
