Uwe Rosler's goal v ManUre FA Cup & Goal

cheers for posting, but wasn't the above the 5-1 hammering? (without watching to confirm it, ehehe)

I'm looking for the F A Cup tie with ManUre that happened some six or seven (?) years after this, when Ball was our manager and Uwe scored.

Not sure if that link will work as sending from my phone, type rostler v Mufc and you'll get it.

Was also the game where utd got the phantom penalty to win 2-1.
Wasn't first trip to OT that. Gutting...

No worries.

It was (damn you auto correct!!) my first trip to OT, and I think my first ever away.

Went to this one wasn't it the day of the great decision to award them a penalty for our fullback touching cantona when the ball was 10 foot above his head.

IIRC, wasn't Keane about to go ballistic at the ref for awarding a free kick to us when it turned out he was actually awarding a penalty? Says it all really. I don't think one vermin player appealed for a penalty.

Yep thats the one Bruce was walking back shaking his head cos he thought ref had give us a free kick then could stop laughin when he found out the tit had give em a pen, remember we got back to pub and a rag who'd watched on telly of course was saying we had all second half to win the game, i just said if we'd made it two nil with that sort of decision you would have had second half to win it do you think you would have, silence followed.

Unless we could win the league there in April

He's in the know and heard the F.A.s rearranged the fixtures to give Utd. every possible advantage probably be announced next week.

D'oh....senior moment

Rosler was played through by Kinkladze before chipping the keeper. Then the phantom penalty and finally Sharp won it for them late on.

I stay outside Maine Road all night after the Coventry replay for Tickets for this game. Some very interesting stories I could tell from the freezing February Night.

Alan Wilkie.

It says a great deal about a journeyman referee that you can remember his name 15 years later.

If that decision was the benchmark there would be a penalty every time a corner went into the box.
Alf Gray i remember that wanker giving Arsenal a penalty against us at Highbury in a league cup game donkeys years ago another joke decision i'll never forget that half wits name either.

Why is it that whenever someone says they've got interesting stories to tell from that evening they never spill the beans? I presume it involves some of our players from the time so any chance of actually telling us what happened?

-- Sun Sep 04, 2011 7:50 am --

What a stupid thing for someone to say. As Ball squeaked up at the time, that penalty was a gift and goals have a habit of changing the momentum of games. In this case, that's exactly what happened because before then we were playing United off the park and they were struggling to gain any sort of foothold. Really we should've been 2 up as our football warranted it. Once they got that penalty it gave them the impetus to go on and win.
