this would surely prompt a replacement if it happened - di Maria?
Negredo recovery keeps Valencia interested

Alvaro Negredo's rapid recovery from the broken bone in his foot could now pave the way for his exit at Manchester City.
The Spanish striker has this week been linked with a move back to his homeland, with Valencia said to be weighing up a £22million bid.
Negredo, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Wednesday, was expected to be out until October with the fractured metatarsal he suffered in a pre-season game against Dundee.
The former Sevilla hero, however, has already returned to light training and the club medics now expect him to be back before the end of September.
That news has quickly filtered back to Valencia, who are prepared to overlook the results from any medical to conclude a deal before the transfer deadline.
City are reluctant sellers but would have around £50million from summer sales to make final additions to their squad.

Can't see it happening. Given Jovetic and Aguero's injury issues last season we can't afford to go into the seaosn with just those two, plus Dzeko, as our available options. Negredo was excellent until the West Ham game when he hurt his shoulder, after that his form fell apart. After just 1 season with City I find it hard to believe we're willing to sell him, and even if we were we 'd just need to replace him anyway, so why bother with the hassle? It's not as if there's a top quality home grown option either in our youth setup, or on the market available to buy, is it?!

Ow, my eyes!!!

There is no way we should even consider this. Until that West Ham game his form and the transition he made to English football was outstanding. He is just what we need with our style of play, a physical, hard working, technically strong number 9.

If Pellers has his eye on a player/players then I'd much rather lose Jovetic, despite the age difference between the two.

Man City's strikers are in demand and Valencia are looking at Negredo and Juventus are interested in Jovetic.

Valencia will soon have Peter Lin's riches to spend and could move or Negredo if they feel he will soon be back from his broken foot.
