VAR audio released of Anthony Gordon's goal v Arsenal

Would love this in real-time but that will never happen. Should give fans more in the ground as well. I'd let them see them reviewing incidents in real-time when the game is stopped especially when reviewing a goal or a possible penalty.

We did used to get to see the cross-hairs lining up the defender & attacker in the 1st year of VAR but that soon stopped.

2 grounds don't have a screen though ??

More chance of the rags winning the league!
No VAR audio had been released before May.

The audio wouldn’t go much beyond “He’s offside” “ok, is he interfering with play?” “I don’t think so, no” “Ok, the defender hasn’t been impeded by his run, so no reason not to give the goal”.

Now, we can all argue til the cows come home that he obviously impeded Ederson’s ability to boot the ball clear, and I agree 100%.

However, hearing what the officials said won’t change the outcome. We’d just hear their reasoning.

This is all well and good and a good step forward but VAR will still never have credibility until the refs/vars are mic’d up live. They can’t just pick and choose which recordings are released. Just do it live like in rugby and cricket.

I'd still like to hear their reasoning, I'm in the camp of hearing all VAR reasoning in play.

Webb said that it was a subjective decision that was able to be supported, but that having taken feedback following the game that a goal like that now would be ruled out because of the proximity of Rashford to the ball and Ederson, impacting Ederson’s decision.

That’s all we‘ll ever get.
