Var debate 2019/20

checking the monitor isn’t a negative. It still gives the ref the opportunity to review it and the game not being re reffed. Decisions take an age to come to anyway so why not let the ref decide it, we see his angles he’s working with and there’s no invisible person in the background who isn’t held accountable. It shows how crooked our league is that we haven’t allowed refs to check the monitors.

why not say that in the first place ? You make good points. My point was I don’t think ref running to a monitor will make anyone more happy - you still have the delay, you will have the crowd groaning and moaning when he runs over - and a ref will still give a controversial decision one way or another - it will do nothing to please the conspiracists when the ref sees the screen and doesn’t give a decision they want.

They hid behind not overruling the ref. Letting the ref check their decision gives them the opportunity to change their mind with no overruling taking place. They make it all up as they go along. There’s delays anyway, that isn’t an issue. It also will show fans the angles get to see. They can’t have any gripes that way. Not some randomer sat miles away still getting easy decisions wrong.

Install monitors around the periphery of the pitch.
or fly one into him, strapped to that cam on the wires for sky sports matches.
Send him one by drone, let him have a breather whilst he is reviewing it
The technology is their, it is criminal he isn't allowed to use it.

Offsides should be taken out of the VAR remit , the officials at Stockley park can manipulate when the ball leaves the foot , frame by frame , millisecond by millisecond , they are bascically deciding who wins games , along with titles and relegation , and its a disgrace that the VAR official is not requested to justify his decisions. The favouritism some teams have enjoyed this season is conclusive proof that the game is bent , as mentioned many times before a Dipperpool title win is great for the Premier league brand and the PGMOL are only too happy to provide it , with no fear of repercussion.

then why not also run the replays hes looking at on the big screens in the stadium ? you know like they promised pre season ?

Le Tiss far more rational here v Cottee.
And he makes a good point - it’s not fun but it’s fairer.

I disagree with Jeff though , a ref running to a monitor on every contentious decision would be ridiculed, fans would boo every time he runs to monitor and it would cause probably longer delays then we have already - then as we saw with the cresswell tackle, it’s so subjective that whatever decision he gives after viewing he still gets labelled a ‘cheat’ corrupt ‘ etc.
The monitors are used in the cl perfectly fine and quick,we were told by swasbrick the var checks were going to be done in real time which is a lie,if they can't decide replaying it for 3-4 mins then the ref should check it himself
