Var debate 2019/20

What is really sinister is the length of time they seem to take to rule a goal/penalty in or out in some cases compared to yesterday when
the check if there was one appears almost instantaneous. However, it was bad reffing yesterday which failed to award a penalty before the first goal. It may have been overturned
because of the ball touching Bernardo but the real damage was done by not halting play. It is extremely frustrating that the introduction of VAR has made things far worse and in many ways is accentuating the negative effect of poor on pitch decision making rather than redressing it.
The really couldn't have looked at the offside and put all the usual var lines up as they would have to have chalked it off, where is that anaysis,it hasn't been shown anywhere, that just doesn't happen in any other gameon MOTD they said that their goal that came from the handball should have been disallowed but it wouldn't have taken a brave ref to disallow at that ground as it would have caused a riot(my word riot because i can't recall their exact word)for them to say that is very telling, they defended var to start with but have sided with the fans in the last few weeks,it's very depressing

We have said for a fair few years now that we are refereed differently. This year has just made it more obvious. The big problem is that the players are starting to get frustrated with the refereeing decisions given against them and you see it on the pitch all the time. It really has come to a head this season with all the arguing with the officials; something we haven’t seen so much of before.

Shearer was in the official VAR video saying it would improve decisions. Was he on MOTD last night? The Sky pundits also said it would be a brave decision, which begs the question - why are we bothering with the game any more if the fans are influencing the referees, through violence?

Probably shouldn’t be, but am still fairly taken aback by just how brazen the bentness was yesterday.

The silence from official sources re. the offside call is deafening. Listen carefully enough though, and you can probably hear them scrambling around to get their story straight. No doubt there’ll be some bullshit statement at some point.

Expect to see some kind of realignment in the next few weeks to cover their arses. E.g. tight offside decisions not being reviewed properly, probably justified by saying the decisions were taking too long and it isn’t fair on the fans. Bit like after the 3-4 derby, when we had the ridiculous spectacle for a few weeks of every second half having at least 5-6 mins added time as they felt compelled to uphold the dogshit excuse about adding a specific amount of time for every substitution, goal etc.

Yes it was shearer last night,he has shifted his position from the friendly face of var to being as scathing as everyone else, that's why it was very important that they said a ref wouldn't overturn it as he would be scared of the reaction, trouble is they have silently changed the rules in the last 2 rounds of games and are suddenly overuling the refs on pens in particular and clear and obvious hasn't applied for months,if they had pure intentions of making the game fairer then they should stop defending it and say yes we have some problems but we are trying to fix it

Liverpool will be on the receiving end of VAR incorrect calls that won't alter the results, in games that they will win anyway. Just wait and see.
That'll be proof that their is no bias.
You can put your house on it.

And I think that's part of the issue, too. Rodri wonders why we don't get one of the pens yesterday, and out pops another yellow for dissent. It stinks. The fans certainly know what's going on when Mason breaks into a run to book Eddie after having a match long series of groans from every stand at the ground when the Soton goalie was blatantly wasting time, and enquire about the questionable decisions and the same thing happens!
