My thoughts exactly, I understood it will be for CLEAR and OBVIOUS errors, Raheems was certainly NOT CLEAR and OBVIOUS!!!The chalked off third goal was a brilliant passage of play. Then it's disallowed because a fraction of Sterling's arm was supposedly offside. Which is subjective on when the person watching the replay freezes the frame. Var wasn't brought in for marginal decisions like this. It was brought in to correct clear errors, or something missed by the officials. They need to quickly stop shit like this happening or it will just lead to a whole shitstorm of accusations when other teams score similar goals and they are allowed.
It does, and this is why you need to show the decision point where the passer first touches the ball in a pass movement and be able to synchronise that view with the offside line. The current system is inaccurate.Good coverage of both VAR goals by Andy Gray on YouTube. They show that where the VAR people decide impact was made determined offside/onside, but in the two cases today they seem to have been inconsistent. In the first one, the ball is fractionally away and hence offside, but in the second they take it from the moment Mahrez makes contact, which is why Sterling ends up onside. That needs to be consistent.
VAR doesn’t check for free kicks and Kane wasn’t offside as it came off a Villa player. For the spuds second goal they fouled the villa lad and kane was coming back from a clear offside position, yet surprise surprise no VAR

No communal spontaneous celebrations for something like that anymore. And it might have been brought back for the Lescott nudge at the throw-in which might have been ruled a foul. Christ knows where this will end.
I wish people knew the actual rules before deciding to moan.Offside doesn't fall under clear and obvious.
As per the PL: "Factual decisions such as whether a player is onside or offside, or inside or outside the penalty area, will not be subject to the clear and obvious test."
You had good hair then. X
I am still convinced that the manager or captain should have two reviews per game and that’s it . Like cricket
Has Andy Gray actually been to a briefing on how it works in the PL, or is he just assuming he knows ?Good coverage of both VAR goals by Andy Gray on YouTube. There would be a list of what can or can't be reviewed, not everything in cricket is reviewed by the team, sometimes its by the officials.Could get a bit farcical, a team defending a 1-0 lead could use the two reviews in injury time to disrupt the game and time waste, manager saying they want a throw in to be reviewed etc.
That’s due to the footage that is available due to the 28/sec frames not enough to determine contactGood coverage of both VAR goals by Andy Gray on YouTube. VAR, or rather the way it is being used is far from perfect and although it isn’t ideal to be using a different version of VAR it is what it is. I watch the UFC and the rules change depending on where they’re staging the event using whatever “rules” the local commission uses. Once you understand the difference in the rules it’s not really that difficult to adjust.I wasn’t aware until today that the use of VAR is being used different in the league to that of european competition.
Although there is a pitchside review screen for the ref, it’s not likely to be called upon in the league.
It’s going to need time to get used to it. I will probably just be getting used to it and then the champs league will kick in with a different approach.
