VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

And another Hammer nails it:
“VAR has disrupted the balance of the beautiful game and shifted the emphasis from free flowing football onto the forensic interpretation of the laws. And even after all the microscopic rigmarole and technology, we've ended up with more controversy than ever before.”

It’s much better than leaving it to the officials , a ref has a second look at an incident, why would anyone oppose that ?
Most weekends so many big decisions are overturned correctly, sometimes it’s still a bit of controversy- Man Utd fans turn to cry corruption this weekend , oh well. Boo hoo.

Because it stops the game, ruins the flow, dampens the excitement and i don't pay £40 for a ticket to watch a bloke watching the telly.

FIFA won’t allow live audio of VAR to be broadcast.

Webb has gone on record as saying they have actually been lobbying for them to change that rule.

It’ll come eventually, I’m sure.
Webb can say what he wants. Unless we have actual proof that the PiGMOL have been actively lobbying for a rule change to allow the audio to be broadcast, then I'm going to take his comments with a huge shovel of salt.

The delay in giving Arsenal’s second goal yesterday was pathetic. The fact they had trouble telling for certain should mean it’s a goal.

And why the clowns in the Portacabin needed to see the incident from face-on, behind the net, was laughable!

Offside should be the easiest, quickest thing to prove, semi-automated gives that but the richest league in the world are delayed. Jesus wept.

The ref blew up for a foul, what was VAR supposed to do ?

Abso-fuckin-lutely. Nail on the head
