VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

For some yes, but there’s record attendances year on year, no sign of boycotts or protests, new generation of fans coming through that will adapt to this form of officiating - as someone that’s attended games for over 30 years I just wish we had it sooner.
Put it to the vote.

So are people off the “VAR is against us” train now?

It took the officials 32 seconds of conferring before disallowing Stones goal with VAR almost certainly a part of that process.

The foul on Savinho vs Ipswich looked a pen all day in real time but the ref blew for a goal kick.

Doesn’t make sense that the VAR would help convince the ref to rule out Stone’s goal on the field and then recommend he overturns it.

I am not sure what that proves at all. It is just overturns.

Had Stones goal been ruled out that would not have contributed 1 point to our score, but equally if the ref allowed it and VAR said no we would have got 1 point on this table. I dont understand the relevance. Its just showing VAR do their job and manage to keep everyone level(ish) which to me reeks of targets and measures.

Wow. It’s crazy you post so confidently after being so wrong. VAR told the ref to give the goal. It was disallowed in the stadium by the Lino

The. Lino. Disallowed. The. Goal. The. VAR. told. The. Ref. To. Check it again.

In one weekend.

Saliba yellow correctly awarded a red thanks to VAR review.

Kudus yellow correctly awarded a red thanks to VAR review.

Fraser shirt pull on Vardy denying him a goal correctly awarded a penalty and a red thanks to VAR review.

John Stones winning goal correctly awarded thanks to VAR review and lino wrongly flagged.

massive injustices would have been allowed to stand had it not been for VAR.

Salah dived for a penalty though, thought you said it would stop him diving

How many weekends has it taken to get to this? No doubt it will be back to normal soon

Most weekends the vast majority of games have little VAR involvement or maybe 1 match has a VAR controversial incident which is blown all out of proportion. It’s clear people rather moan and be angry - even when VAR rescues them 3 points some still find a way to criticise.

So they got the decisions right..fuck me they SHOULD get EVERY one right..they have loads of replays from different angles and get to replay them in slow motion and even freeze the frame.
Is VAR killing the game..hmmm let me put it from my viewpoint as a match going supporter..I can't stand it..
We will all have our opinions on it and as I've said a few times most of the match going fans I speak too hate it.

The point is without VAR the decisions would have been allowed to stand, imagine the outrage and outcry when Stones winner got ruled out ? Would be massive cries of corruption.

VAR is far from perfect, will never get decisions 100% correct but as can tell this season it is very much needed
