VAR Discussion Thread

VAR going forward should be for penalties (they'll still fuck it up) and Red card offences

Offsides use automated and introduce the Wenger proposal. that eliminates elbows, heels, arses and noses from being a criteria for offside

The problem being is they've found it's a great way to manipulate results and they're now pushing corruption to it's limits where it's reached breaking point, this is where our club needs to be challenging them but the only problem being that we would most likely be on our own.
The majority of the other teams and msm would rather kiss arse as opposed to kicking it.

There’s a clip they used on Sky from behind the goal and you can use the shadow of the crossbar to see a Newcastle players boot was nearer the goal than Erlings.

The VAR team were guessing which frame to use and if you are having to guess it should stand with onfield decision.
They weren’t guessing. They were looking for one where he strayed fractionally offside. Beyond corrupt.

The bbfuckin'c now reporting that the semi automated shite wasn't working (yet again) so they had to draw the lines themselves.

This is the corruption we face. If it doesn't fit with what they want they say it wasn't working. Corrupt as fuck.
If drawing lines was considered haphazard/ controversial why revert to it ? And haven't there been other cases where it "wasn't working" and so the decision on the pitch stood ?

When is 5cm not 5cm? When you play in blue, apparently. Shocking decision, completely anti -football.

No way Haaland impacted that play in any way, and like so many things on life - if you have to take so long to find a reason, maybe you're chasing rainbows.

Why wasn't the 5cm tolerance mentioned by any pundits or commentators last night ?

Why aren't there clear cameras on both sides of the pitch? How hard is to use 4 cameras? One per side for greater reliability.

I feel that someone will tell me that they already do. If so, double it. Overlay camera monitoring systems are a basic tool of group animal tracking.

Im sure I must be looking at this through my blue tinted specs, but it seems to me City are scrutinised to the nth degree with a view to finding a reason to disallow goals, where the redshirts are scrutinised to the same degree with a view to allowing goals!!!! I’m sure that’s not the case, just seems that way to me

I have been advocating the visible clear gap for decades. It used to be the case for a while in the 80's.

CORRUPT OFFICIALS!

I don't think they use the semi-automated offsides in Carabao Cup. In the PL I think it would have stood.

Edit: apparently they do, so why the need to draw the lines on the pitch - I thought the system does it automatically?

In the CL games it takes 30 seconds to a minute and we can all see whether it's offsise or not based on the semi-automated technology. In England we sometimes don't get to see it at all or if we do it is a few minutes later.

In my opinion VAR isnt bent, or crooked or corrupt. I dont believe it manipulates results for spurious reasons… its just an inept system ran by inept operators

Its not going any where though so it needs reviewing.

2 things i would immediately change , where VAR is in operation the ground HAS to have screens within the stadium so match going fans know whats going on.
Rugby has it, cricket too. Why not football? The pricks in the box can hide.
And guess which 2 stadiums dont have a screen?

2nd id put a time limit on a decision. If its taking 5.5 minutes to draw lines then its taking too long. If they cant make a decision after 1 minute then go with the goal

Offside should always have been daylight between the attacker and defender. That always made sense to me.

I'd be for keeping VAR if that rule changed so we could see if it worked. Otherwise I'd change VAR so it's available to the ref when he asks for it but not automatically and that he'd be the only one making a decision, i.e. he is tge only decision maker.
