VAR Discussion Thread

Im sure I must be looking at this through my blue tinted specs, but it seems to me City are scrutinised to the nth degree with a view to finding a reason to disallow goals, where the redshirts are scrutinised to the same degree with a view to allowing goals!!!! I’m sure that’s not the case, just seems that way to me
The figures don’t support the blue lens view!

Offside should always have been daylight between the attacker and defender. That always made sense to me.

I'd be for keeping VAR if that rule changed so we could see if it worked. Otherwise I'd change VAR so it's available to the ref when he asks for it but not automatically and that he'd be the only one making a decision, i.e. he is tge only decision maker.
The daylight rule is up for review by fifa currently.

Last night's game was shown on itv to fairly new audience who don't have subscription tv I wonder what their thoughts about game are now ? Yes they'll of heard var called out but to actually see the farce unfold is something totally different
Said the same to the missus last night.
What would neutral 'auntie Beryl' make of today's football after watching that incident last night

There's a palpable feeling from the team that we are being cheated against. I'm going with that. VAR is being used to engineer the PL results, I highly suspect that given what we are seeing.

We will get a favorable decision at utd imo. This has hit the headlines so it will go our way. That's manipulation itself, but let's see.
Good luck with that :-)

Ha ha Beryl my sadly departed mum would just say it's a game
And I'd agree with your late mum, but it seems every game there is a controversial incident involving refs and pgmol. Whichever way you look at it Webb and his cronies at pgmol are not fit for purpose because these are not one-off isolated incidents, they're every game. It's ok them saying 'Oh well, it all evens itself in the end.' It shouldn't have to be evened out in the first place. 21st technology, AI talking over the world, cctv cameras pretty much on every single house and building in the country, everything and everyone being scrutinised digitally (face scans in the supermarket), yet Webb and co make some kind of calamitous, farcical, totally ridiculous decision in every single bloody game of football but nobody is asking them questions?

I remember the days when the on field referees make an instant decision and we could celebrate a goal instantly and with joy. Now we have to wait 5 minutes to be kicked in the nuts. What’s the point of going to matches if you can’t believe what you see with your eyes and you have to trust in wankers with a TV monitor a hundred miles away? VAR contrived to award Liverpool goal and contrived to wipe out a City goal. It is no coincidence that a recent BBC report said of the top Premier League teams net benefit had gone to Arsenal and Chelsea and net penalty has to Liverpool and City. Aston Villa doesn’t appear on either list. This means if VAR was eliminated from the equation City would be top.

We won and effectively booked our place in the final and yet here we are.
We are not discussing train timetables, that cheapo bus someone always bangs on about or staying over at Watford.

Instead we are talking about a fucked up system that is manipulated to try and manufacture results.

What the hell has happened to football ?

Var nearly worked other way Newcastle were crest fallen crowd flat tv commentators sulking 3 subs coming on for damage limitation then 5 minutes later all on crest of wave and if scored before we took sting out of game it would've ended in great victory for football and Newcastle

When is 5cm not 5cm? When you play in blue, apparently. Shocking decision, completely anti -football.

No way Haaland impacted that play in any way, and like so many things on life - if you have to take so long to find a reason, maybe you're chasing rainbows.
Absolutely, Haaland couldn’t get away from the defender because he had Haalands’ shirt halfway up his back!

The bbfuckin'c now reporting that the semi automated shite wasn't working (yet again) so they had to draw the lines themselves.

This is the corruption we face. If it doesn't fit with what they want they say it wasn't working. Corrupt as fuck.
That’s why they’re so secretive, unlike cricket and rugby they have so much to hide.

I thought that the VAR was working, just that the players were too close for it to be able to differentiate the players involved.
