VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

The PL have absolutely struck a sweet spot for this season at least (I do believe it will be reformed next but it doesn’t help us this season) as the mantra this season is that “clear an obvious officiating mistake” which they constantly refer to. That phrase opens a can or worms as means that any “close” or remotely close call can be determined by the ref either at the time or pulled back and manipulated by going back to find fault by the VAR team. Effectively they can manufacture the general course of a game during key moments by going with the Refs marginally wrong decision as not clear and obvious enough to over rule but at the same time find fault when it suits the agenda for the season.

They have found a way to bend the results they want within the stall they have set. That said I think they have gone beyond the realms of plausibility in recent weeks and social media and public opinion from all fans (Liverpool aside) that have really smelt a rat this weekend. I think we will see these obviously biased methods toned down in the immediate future.

that said.. probably too late and job done. As they got what they want with 3 years on the bounce being bad for “the product”.

I just hope it all comes out and gets exposed one day as it stinks.

I just can’t get my head around that decision having seen it again on MOTD. Var is wank and is completely spoiling the game. People were walking out of the game today pissed off when they should have been overjoyed at the win. It’s secretive, there is no explanation. It stinks. How do they explain that one? The Sheff Utd one was ridiculous too as was the Spurs one at Leicester. It is ruining the game this shit (unless you support Liverpool or United of course)
To be honest, people were walking out of the game in the biggest home game since Spurs in August with the game on a knife edge and not even looking back to see what was going on so I don’t even think half our fanbase care.

I don't believe VAR checks encroachment?
It checks encroachment. I don't think it checks goalkeepers feet on the line. I don't know why it checks the former and not the latter. Maybe these checks will change next week? Or maybe not? Nobody knows, except for the VAR and this is dependent on what. the desired result is. Normally the desired result is a Liverpool win at any cost.

Some blokes in SS3 were on the concourse drinking in the 70th minute of the game when I went for a piss. I just don’t get it.

There were people queueing to get out up the aisle to my right today, people behind me complaining that the deserters were in the way of their view of the game, and they weren’t even looking back at the game to see the action (and it was end-to-end) and were just looking at the lads moaning at them without a care in the world.

Sounds like SS3 every game. Fucking annoying when people decide to leave then just linger around on stairwells and near exits while the incompetent steward just stands there. Either stay or piss off quickly.

People were walking out of the game against Spurs ( champions league) with ten minutes left and the game on a knife edge. Lots of our match going fans couldnt care less about the result

Although I do think I will keep my season ticket, I agree with others about VAR ruining the experience. Nothing about whether we are winning or losing. Just takes away from being a match going fan.they used to equal themselves out anyway.

I will be considering myself come next year. Anfield, West Ham etc have all been pointless away games given the bad calls to attend. May as well stay at home whilst some twat near Heathrow (closet scouser) decides how a game is gonna go.

Fuck them all VAR, constant sniping and negativity from the press and every twat with a soapbox on the internet, total domination by ex rags and dippers on tv couches, the Irish rag/dipper glory boy hacks, the American owners influence and ability to twist the press to suit their clubs and twist the knife into us and the other extreme being erased from the sports columns and media for days at a time. Fuck the lot of them, nothing is going to change and we need to get used to it. Unless the club come out and actually start properly firing back, saying how it actually is then it’s going to be a long, frustrating second decade.
