VAR (PL introduction 2019)

I'll ignore Mc pointy and the other ****, but he isn't, if the keeper tries to move and Barry is in his way. That's why you don't see it happening in the CL, at international level or in other leagues. The PL refs don't even allow it in Europe, because they know it's illegal. It's an attitude that really needs to change in England.

Nope you are wrong.

It only becomes an offence if he's offside or if he impedes the keeper. Just standing there, from a corner being kicked, is perfectly legal & it's a pen.

That's my point, if Mignolet is trying to come for a cross there and floors him it's a free out. It wouldn't be a penalty for the push either in any other league.

Barry is allowed to stand there. No rule says a player can't stand in front of the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper is not allowed to foul him, nor vice versa.

Because the ref, the video ref, the tv ref, Steve Macmanaman, Gerrard & indeed a load of City fans, have already said it's perfectly ok.

So they will get a pat on the back, for being wrong, just as they would helping Real Madrid in a Champ's League final v City.

They will only get told off, if it ever works the other way round.
They weren’t wrong. Barry was obstructing the keepers view whilst offside. Correct decision.

It is a foul if Barry dives like Salah did. The keeper is not allowed to push him in the back, with the ball 40 yards away.

But he doesn't need to dive, as we have v.a.r.

I'm not sure if that was an argument for VAR or a firing squad for the linesman.

An argument for VAR. refs and Linos are human - they will get decisions wrong. For the sake of a minute they would have got the correct decision and a goal would have been given.

Well the last decision was definitely a firing squad job.

In my opinion VARS should have been used then to check the tackle on Sane. The ref was a distance away and running hence he gave a yellow as he could not be sure what happened.

VAR reverses those decisions but it doesn't hold the officials accountable.

It will only breed further incompetence if that issue isn't tackled first.

I'm for VAR but it's not the next step in improving refereeing standards. Especially as not every game gets it.

A goal and a red card not given due to no VAR but because you’ve made your mind up already you would prefer us to not be 3 up with an extra man on the field. Ycmiu!

Add to that Sane has gone off so the horrendous challenge did for him yet went unpunished.
