Now that he's confirmed, what will be the English media's take on it:

a. We have the best league in the world, and now we have the best club manager in world football. This shows how good we have it in England, and now it's time to start attracting the best players in the world. This is a new era, when English football can once again assert itself in the upper echelons of European football.

or

b. He's only ever taken over great teams, he's never had a challenge. He's no chance of replicating his success in England. He should have gone to United or Arsenal who at least have a history and legacy he could work with, instead of the nouveau riche that is Man City.

I reckon (a).............

any football fan with a brain will say A, most opposition fans of a couple of teams in red and the press will say B

The Rags PR machine, the BBC as expected already done with but with the "has Pellagrini been harshly treated by city" angle and 78% said yes, most probably with no knowledge of Pella's quotes

I think the majority of the media will be (a).

It was unthinkable that Murdoch would ditch the Tories for Labour but he did when they became a joke and Blair became Labour leader.

This is a game changer
and the media like to back the winning side: LVG/Giggs versus Pep? Ermm let me think about that one.

talksport just said pep is on astronomical wages at Manchester city that's why he's going

United would have paid him more if he'd wanted to go there. Chelski too probably. It's bollocks it was just about the money.
Everyone will pay Pep top dollar. That's just his worth at this point in history. That said, I think it's a fair claim to suggest he will find it more difficult domestically here than it was in Spain or Germany.

There is more money across the whole league here and there are more teams bunched near the top. At Barca and later Bayern, he had just 1 team to truly compete against in 7 years of coaching both.

He would find the Prem a bit more competitive, and City a bit more of a challenge. I think it's a challenge he'll relish though.

I take it you mean the RagDipperMeedya? They are already up Mt Sinai chiselling out B on a tablet of stone!

Well so far it's B.
What a day though reading through the comments on various newspapers with my box of ever so sweet popcorn ...

He's already the highest paid manager in the world, and it's not even close. Of course that trend will continue at City.

Anyone see Le Tissier nearly lose it, he seemed furious that Pep's coming to us.

Caught the end of a special bit on Radio 5 earlier and it was definitely A. With the rags getting a kicking for being so far behind with no obvious plan.

If Carlsberg did transfer deadline days, we've bought two.

I guess I was a bit naïve in thinking that this would turn the majority's opinion on us and get them to sit up and realise that we are not just some prince's play toy and he isn't going to throw in the towel at any point. Fair enough some in the media are taking it at face value and saying how much good this will do for English football on the whole, but most of what I've seen from the media or just general public opinion so far has consisted of: he's taken the easy option, he's only going for the money and he's never even proved himself to be that good a manager.

I think it's just selective ignorance. They don't want to believe it, so they'll hold off for as long as they can.

I love everything about how our club is run now. It's absolutely the perfect way to go about life. You keep yourself to yourself and let the others fall around you, then announce you're bringing in the best manager in the world as the final piece of your global jigsaw just as the others are all floundering around you. Sheikh Mansour, Khladoon, Txiki and everyone involved have done an incredible job and will continue to do so. We are so lucky...
