Get Davinci Resolve. It has features that far, far exceed what you need it for, but at least there’s plenty of scope to grow into video editing. It really is a beast of a software. And it’s FREE!

I agree with the others. Da Vinci resolve is the best in the business. Premier if you are looking for more complex dynamic animations with After Effects - which I'm sure you are not.
