Sounds like parts of Scotland and to be fair the Klan was set up by Scots. The hillbillies are from Scotland and Ulster, a fine bunch of all round nut jobs, again, you see the remnants of this is certain sections of our community today with the Free Church of Scotland and organisations such as the Orange Order. Although to be fair to the Americans, they actually go to Church, where as here, it’s more about hatred of Catholicism that is the norm and actually going to church is not a big thing. One thread runs through all this and that is ignorance and holding onto and actively encouraging hate. Alabama is one of the stupidest parts of not only America but the western world and has an IQ average similar to that of smart dogs. Bigots have been shown to be the thickest of people in many scientific studies and they are so tunnel visioned that they can believe shit like a 10,000 year old world. As this is about the 37th thread here in the last few years offering Brits an opportunity to lambast Americans for regular displays of rampant stupidity — and justifiably so in many cases — I will, also for the 37th time, point out that the UK voted to inexorably alter the entire economic and social structure of the nation based on a 15-word referendum.

There’s plenty of thickness to go around the English-speaking world, sadly.

I will give you that. Do you think we could send that minority over to you? It’s only about 17 million and they are overwhelmingly white, so Trumpers would like them and their world view and deep deep lack of intelligence and critical thinking abilities. They would fit right in to certain swathes of the US. I could start a fund me page to get the ball rolling.

I think that voting according to one's principles and values, and not according to one's economic self-interest is something that actually deserves praise and not ridicule.
