It's been temporarily disabled as a test to see if it speeds the forum up during busy times.

It does but the forum isnt as good

It's only a temporary measure tonight during the spike in traffic - it will be reinstated as soon as things calm down. We've got 1300 online at the moment and it's putting a strain on the server. It's hard to tell at the moment if disabling seach has made a difference, but if I re-enable it now it could crash the site, which no one really wants.

We need to test these things I'm afraid.

is there a way of having it as a selectable option in the UserCP instead, Ric? like set to no as default and user choice to active it if they want it. I'd think only a small portion of users use it.

It's not easily done, but I'll look into it. As I've said though, it was only temporary for a few hours to see if it improved things. I'll switch it back on now.

Can't view active topics

Even though I am logged in , I cant view active topics or use the search facility

its cool ... i thought it would be a speed saving exercise. dont worry about it, i'll test the idea on my phpbb, then it wont accidentally damage the bluemoon code. see if its possible.

its just been temporarliy disabled to test the site during post match times.
