The club have single handly ruined the atmosphere at city with this decision. Most of the little atmosphere that is generated at city is in response to the away fans, which is why when we play teams like Wigan with few away fans the atmosphere is rubbish. Pushing the Villereal away fans up out of the way is going to really kill everything. I only sit where i do for the away fan banter and I will not be relocating myself to East Stand level 3!

Villareal are worse than Wigan for bringing fans so it won't make a difference, what's the problem in trying something?

Don't worry you will be able to go back to calling one of the away fans a faggot or a fat bastard or jesus the next league game.

I sit where I am because I like the banter with the away fans, where i sit the view is rubbish, you can't see anything on the other side of the ground, the stewards constantly abuse you and the tickets are suprisingly expensive. It just seems like a ridiculous decision and is going to ruin the atmosphere at games. They better announce before the renewal date next season what the craic is going to be with the away fans!

What happens if it is a roaring success?? not only would 6,000 blues singing all as one get the whole ground singing as well but it might bring a bit of life to the 3rd tier.

It's the perfect game to try this, you say there is only an atmosphere because of the away fans yet for this game there will be no away fans so if it doesn't work and the atmosphere is shit then it would have made no difference if there were 150 Villareal fans sat where they normally sit.

It's worth a try and everyone should give it everything they have got.

I agree, I've never understood this "one end" thing, because most of any atmosphere for any home club, is generated by the away supporters, when they are loud there's a good atmosphere, when we play Wigan/Fulham there never is. Moving the away fans permanantly wil not help the atmosphere in my opinion, and for this one off trial with a few hundred Villareal fans, it will make little difference to what it would have been like.

Not sure if you were at Fulham last season but they didn't bring many fans so they were stuck in south stand second tier, the normal away fans bit was sold to city fans. Probably the worse atmosphere of last season, the game was flat and we drew 1-1.
Yes I was, its always the same when we do that, (or just the lower tier, with blues above).

The reason it works when there is a good away following is because we have fans either side of them, if we need to change things to get our support together, I'd move the away fans to the other side of the south stand, and have a "sit anywhere" (unallocated) singing section for enough season ticket holders that will fit. I know that will never happen, but that would be the best solution, and I'd also price the beer sensibly to get people in well before kick off.

Yeah that would work, they would never do it though. Its not the price of beer than annoys me, its the ridiculous queuing time. They should do what they do at Bolton where before the game starts when you buy your pint you also pay for your half time pint and are given a ticket. Then at half time you just walk down a special lane, hand the token over and are given a beer, without money being involved it takes less than 2 minutes to get your pint. Currently loads of people leave at 40 and come back at 50 because it takes them so long to get a half time pint!

200 lads singing 'who's the faggot in the pink' is not atmosphere . When the singing reverberates around the ground, that's atmosphere.

Why do we need to sing about the opposition?, makes me cringe when we sing about you know who ....why not just sing City songs?.

To me they don't register, i despise them particularly their rancid supporters and their constant songs about their rivals rather than supporting their own club.

Don't need any away fans for an atmosphere at a Champions league game

Having a whole end will help.

At the moment the tiers fragment the singing. If you are sat on the other side of the ground the noise carries really well, but if you're sat in the South Stand level 2, you sometimes can't tell what Level 1 are singing, and you take your queue from the singing section cos you can see them and hear them. Their noise comes towards you, whereas Level 1 South Stand is projected away from you

Its not just singing "who's the faggot in the pink". This is the statement that always gets banded out when this issue is discussed, its ridiculous and shows an absolute lack of intelligence about the issue. It just dismisses all the issues with a throwaway statement that has no actual reality on how things actually are at the stadium. Do you even go to the games?

I agree, but when there are only a few hundred, or they sit in silence, the atmosphere rarely gets going, whether we are in front or not. The best atmosphere is when there is a good away following and the game is close (or its someone we particularly don't like), and both sets of fans contribute to better atmosphere.

I don't think our atmosphere is bad anyway, well most of the time, and I've never understood the need for change put forward by so many on here, my only complaint about how it is now, is that the two sections either side of the away fans don't always sing the same songs, and that can be devisive, and one can stop the other.
