No issue whatsoever with us sending players to anywhere in the world for the best treatment possible but wasnt the whole point of the new medical research centre at the Campus us bringing it all in house with the very best in their fields looking after our players now?
I thought the same but maybe we are using the same recovery methods as keeps the Barca team healthy,I recall sergio saying he changed his diet regime to the same as messi to cut down on muscle injuries,It's best to send the players to the specialist but i hope we are learning and in future we can do it at home

We are still in honeymoon mode and there's no hard evidence. Time will tell.

Do you not think he's pretty ruthless then?
I think ruthless is an unnecessary negative adjective to use about Pep, as long as we have no evidence about him acting that way. Off course he will make the rules and draw consequences if those are broken. Like any good leader must. That's not being ruthless in my humble opinion.

He'll let no one individual player stand in the way of where he wants to take the team, regardless of what that player has done in the past or what his standing with the fans. That's ruthless in my book. A lot of managers know what needs to be done to improve their teams, not all of them have the balls to carry it out.

Ruthless is a double-edged sword: positive in terms of getting results but negative as a personal trait.

My feeling is that Pep is manipulative in the sense of identifying potential enemies/opponents/blockers, then coolly choosing the battle ground on which to nullify them. The Hart and Toure situations have been handled with far greater alacrity, calculation and PR savvy than a blusterer like Mourinho could ever manage. Nasri disappeared without a ripple. On VK, let's see what unfurls, but his injury record puts him in a weak position.

Anyway, he is fireproof for some time to come as he's long been courted by the top brass, been given virtual carte blanche and already made spectacular progress. FWIW, I'm more than happy that Pep is our manager.

As you say, it's all about opinions though.

Maybe a few seasons ago I'd agree with that, but not now.

Yes we do. Kompany isn't fit enough to lace his own boots - that's the problem!
Firstly I agree that we do not know Vinnies long term prospects none of us are in a position to know, we can hope for the best but may fear for the worst.

Secondly I don't particularly want to knock any of the current defenders , generally we have played very well this season but to my eyes the defense has occasionally looked a little suspect. When fit to me Vinny as a defender was imperious his reading of the game defensively was excellent he had a habit of sniffing trouble very early and had the physical attributes and ability to deal with trouble.
Individually with the exception of Stones our defenders have been the same as they have been previously when Vinnie always looked the best when fit.

Stones may well develop into that kind of defender and is certainly very promising but at 22 is still callow, occasionally makes the wrong decisions and was bullied a bit by Ashley Fletcher when Pep removed him. This is not a whinge at Stones I think he is a a very promising central defender but young players are almost all a little inconsistent.

Against Swansea at times Kolarov made a few of the errors that had people foaming at the mouth last season, Peps use of him and his distribution skills is excellent but he is still making some of the defensive errors we have seen in the past. Routledge physically dominated him on at least one occasion, he also failed to cut out a couple of dangerous crosses that nearly resulted in goals. For the Swansea goal he was slow to stand up and move forward after heading out hence playing Llorente onside when the rest of the defense was ahead of Llorente.

I am certainly not trying to criticise either Pep or our defenders but when fit Vinnie is simply superior to them in my eyes whether he will regain full fitness or not I don't know.

Good news. Might just end up missing one league game then.

Everton home, or Barcelona away looks a possibility. Could have done with Vinny and KDB being available over the Celtic and Spurs double-header. It will be a huge ask to win both.

It's not like we are going to use him in such big games when he's basically never played a competitive match in this newly formed team. Celtic at home or the cup game against the rags should be an ideal opportunity to get some game time, assuming he really will be fit...
