We lost EVERY second ball tonight. Brute strength and determination won Liverpool that game.

Again...

Bit disappointed in Pep as well tbh. We all knew that 1st half was coming and we didn't have any solutions.

This i have to admit is the flipside to having a team of level headed technicians. Sometimes you need someone to rage spittle in the other players faces. Andy Morrison would have been more help tonight imo than Gundogan, he is not made for high intensity games, he needs to much time. A bit of topic but you get my point.
No, you don't need that, you need level headed technicians in a game like tonight's, who will stick to the game plan calmly and do their job, not thwack the ball into row Z like a headless chicken when under no pressure, and then go AWOL when it matters.
It wasn't a lack of fighting spirit that cost us tonight.

This is exactly what we did at Napoli away i feel but we seem to have lost that calmness. So since that failed i revert to Big Andy hehe.

I do think you are correct in a general sense to, it just felt tonight a few needed a short sharp shock to get their skates on.

He and Otamendi have been excellent recently, but were both dreadful in the first half.

I thought he was the worst player on the pitch for us last night.

His passing was quite atrocious and he put the pressure back on us time and again in the first half. You could see that Liverpool were happy for him to have the ball and instead focused their pressing the player he was trying to pick out, sacking them like quarterbacks. His passing made it almost impossible for them to control the ball under such pressure.

He looked like he was beaten in the tunnel before the game and he needs to muster his best leadership qualities for the 2nd leg.

But... to end this post on a high note. If anyone can reflect on their performance and use it to galvanise us next week, it's Vinnie.
