He really doesn't look finished, does he? Far from it. He needs someone pretty nippy playing next to him, I think (for example, I would no longer really trust the combination Ota + him, especially not against speedy teams). But if he's got that, he provides a wonderful calming anchor for the defence. He's as tough as nails. And some of his balls out of defence are those of a true midfielder (which of course he was).
 
He's been sensational when he's played this season. Hasn't put a foot wrong. Pretty sure he could play more than he has too, he looks solid.
 
I would start him in every remaining league game. Only problem is his fitness. He doesn't seem to get injured anymore, plays and finishes a game and everything looks fine but then we don't see him for another month. Hopefully he came through yesterday ok.
 
One of the things I like about Vinny this season is that he's not comparable Laporte with ball at feet, but he knows it, and just plays it to someone better quickly. Nico and Stones sometimes spend 30 seconds with the ball at their feet thinking about a pass, then changing direction and looking for another, and then again...and they're looking for openings like Pep wants, but it just slows the game down.

Vinny gets the ball, looks up, plays a quick forward pass to KDB or Gundogan, or Mendy if he's going forwards. Keeps the tempo high, keeps the opposition under pressure.
