The strange thing about that is that the only reason he doesn't play more is because he physically can't. When fit Pep picks him for almost every big game.

Yep, very strange. He's still pretty much one of the first names on the team sheet when fit, I can only imagine it's a disagreement over contract length/wages than anything else. This will be bad, bad business if we let him go.

Unfortunately I wasn’t old enough to appreciate Mike Doyle (where I get moniker from). But last night again showed that we have someone on that level with the great Mike Doyle. He may not have been born down the road in Reddish or grew up supporting the club as a nipper. But he has given his all to this club and I am sure if you cut him up then he would have blue blood running through him.

I am not sure whether the tears were of joy (I hope so) or whether this will be his last home game for the club only he knows that? I just hope he can stick around for another season maybe get his badges and learn a few things from the master who knows? One thing is for sure we will probably not see the likes of Vinny for a long time to come.

Possibly. Nobody can blame him if he doesn't want the stress of all these injuries but he's still world class in my eyes and I just hope he carries on playing football.

I've heard he's got a one-year extension on the table from us, a two-year contract in the States and a potential two-year contract at Barcelona that he's leaning towards. Wants to challenge himself playing in Spain. Also considering America as a serious option, knows he could play there for another 5 years. Also knows that he has a role here whenever he wants it, club happy for him to do what he wants but Pep desperately wants him to stay. If he goes to Barca we'll sign de Ligt whatever the cost, hence no left back.

Also heard that Dave might call it a day and go to Japan, hence Fernandes and Felix...

Hope it's all bollocks and he signs a new deal with us but what a way to go out!
