Vinny Good For Another 5 Years

Unless they take him to Lourdes, and a miracle happens, there's no way we'll get five more years out of Vinny. We need to start planning for life without him, I'm afraid. Starting by getting Jason back.

It would be a miracle if he got out of that hospital healthier than he went in.

Oh, you mean the shrine? He can go on his way to watch Belgium in the euros, we may as well give it a try.

Professor Irwin adds: "You would take four of five key skills that he would need: running and cutting, running and turning, and looking at what his techniques of those movements are. And then take some more traditional stuff, like how much force can he produce, turning force at the knee, what’s his left and right quad and hamstring balance like, and how consistent that is, looking at the medical records to see the frequency and the types of injuries are, and try to build up a picture of him. Do it at a bespoke, individual level.

"If I was his physio then I would be looking at identifying not a traditional functional movement screen – which is what a lot of Premier League players would do – but more of a bespoke analysis of his biomechanical characteristics of running, his cutting movements, sports-specific manoeuvres, because ultimately that’s when he’s getting injured.

The way I see it there is at best a 40% chance he will get back to an acceptable level of fitness. Pep would be wise to plan for life without Vinny.

I'm not giving up on Vinny yet, he'll be lifting the premier league again before he's done, IMO.

He was consulting with specialist a great deal more qualified than this guy, one's who have actual access to the man..

I remember discussing this a couple of years back, his game becomes average if he evolves it from the intensity we have all grown to love, unfortunately, that intensity is about his reading of the game and being first off the mark, this is where the injuries stem from and his body is strained with it...

Vinnie has to bin International football to have any chance of a future with City, imo. You can't build a team around him because of his injuries.
Completely agree with this. It's all too much for him, he needs to face facts or he's gonna be finished! And we don't just lose our defensive rock when he's out, we lose our captain. That being said, we'll hopefully have a better second choice captain next season. One that doesn't casually stroll around for 80 minutes before he starts playing.

We should keep Vinny on, even if it's with the ultimate aim of him being part of the coaching staff. When he doesn't play, it's his leadership qualities that we miss most. We also need someone who can replace him as captain when he isn't playing. Yaya just hasn't cut it, his demeanour doesn't inspire, and his game is about what he does himself, not what he does to drive the team.

There aren't many other perma-injured players you'd keep on just for sentimental reasons. We should be looking at players like Stones, Laporte, Denayer and even Mangala in the centre of defence. The concept of Kompany being put straight back in the side after his latest injury doesn't rub well with me at all. I'd say Aguero and, at a push, De Bruyne are the only two players I'd be gutted to see leave. The rest are replaceable.
