If Liverpool buy him, that's three clubs in the league with a more expensive record signing that ours (De Bruyne). And yet we're the ones who throw money at our problems?

If he comes to us he'll play in a world-class team and, if things carry on the way they're going, win plenty of trophies under the best manager in the history of football. If he goes to Liverpool he'll likely struggle until they realise they'll never win anything under Klopp.

Would he be a bench warmer if we went to 3 at the back. Still think he is going to Liverpool but like people have said why would you not want to play for City under Pep. Now I dont intend to be arrogrant or raggish but if he doesnt believe that he can break into Citys back line then he doesnt have the ambition to be a great cb. He can go to Liverpool and walk straight into their back line. Just look at Delph I thought he was mad not to leave, but wanted to stay and fight, now that shows that he believes he is good enough.

Maybe or maybe he decided to stay because he was on a good wage and settled in the area his kids and wife liked the school and he thought i will stay and get the odd appearance . Then by sheer chance our new 50 mil fullback gets injured and he's in .Fate or belief who knows .
I would want to go to City I'm a blue at 26 I would want to play and win things .If I was Klopp I would be saying we want you have pursued you all year you are the missing piece of the puzzle , we are not that far away from City in the goal scoring stakes . Come here we haven't won a premier league you will be a legend and sort out the defence

Like I say who knows

People saying ‘if he has any ambition, he’ll join city’, two things:

1) it would show more balls for him to join Liverpool if his ambition is to help them win trophies. It’s a much bigger risk because he knows that if he came to city and played at his best then it would pretty much guarantee him a league title.

2) Have any of you actually watched the dippers? Going forward they look fantastic. They have a very good and very likeable manager who, like Pep, I’m sure every man who plays for him would want to win him all the trophies possible.

We may be the only team in Manchester, but we’re not the only team in the league. We may be the best right now but that doesn’t guarantee us anything for next season. Too many people sounding like rags on here - arrogant and self entitled.

P.S. please choose us Virgil!
I've just posted something similar

Yes we were. Our owners changed the whole footballing business model and pretty much all of our signings at the time mentioned being convinced by the scale of the ‘project’. Just the size and ambition of the investment in East Manchester was enough for anybody to be convinced of their intentions; the argument about Mansour upping sticks when he gets bored was just a lazy acusation made by rival fans (supported by some elements in the media)

Perhaps it’s easy for you to see why VVD would prefer Liverpool but I don’t agree at all. I’d be shocked if talented players were overly concerned about the possibility of spending large amounts of time on the bench. If that’s the case here then maybe it’s in city’s best interest he signs for Liverpool.
I never said he would prefer Liverpool over us, what I said is that I can imagine a situation whereby guaranteed game time & a determination to honour the agreement he made with Liverpool might keep him on course for Anfield.

Everything you've said about City proves my point exactly.

Did we buy a new stadium? Did we have CFA? Did we have a high financial turnover? Did we have world class players? Did we have major sponsorship? Did we have CFG? We had none of these things in 2008 & it was all talk until we proved ourselves.

In fact at the time, we had something akin to what Frank gave us, before it came to light that his finances had been frozen by the Thai authorities.

Even Kaka recently explained he didn't want to take a risk with his career by coming here because we were an unknown quantity with a relatively shit squad.

How many players gave interviews about City throwing money about not giving us class or history, before they rocked up to chew on our fatted calf? Remember Clichy's interview? Nasri's interview? Terry's interview (albeit he ultimately used City to get a better deal from Chelsea)? Even Kolo Toure accidentally called us Money City in his interview just after signing for us!

We had to prove our new owner wasn't just some fly by night with big words, but prove it we have. Nothing we have in place now, was there in 2008/09 apart from vast sums of money, but who doubts Manchester City Football Club now?

In terms of players choosing us over any other team; when did we begin to sound so Raggish? Think about what you've been posting & think back to what the Sky 4 clubs & their fans said about City back then & ask yourself what is so different to the words you've just typed & what the all said about us 8-9 years ago?

So you fail to see that Coutinho having a good season for Liverpool while fighting for his place in the Brazil team then going to the WC and having a good tournament will increase his value??? Looks pretty obvious to me.

I said if they keep their best players like Coutinho, Salah etc and add more quality players then of course they will be a major threat but I can’t see that happening.
I never said a good season or WC wouldn't increase Coutinho's value, however I did say Liverpool did not want to sell & everything I've heard or seen since shows me nothing has changed.

Klopp said he's trying to build his squad to challenge regularly for the title & CL. How are they supposed to do this if they keep selling their best players?

How would you feel about City if the same you've just said about Coutinho, was being said about Jesus, Sane, Sterling & KDB? Would you want to go there as an ambitious player if that club kept selling off their family silver? Think about it....

Mangala stayed & fought, is he now good enough?

It's impossible not to sound Raggish by saying why wouldn't any player not want to play for MCFC & Pep? Do you know what's every players' mind whose given the choice?

No offence mate, but what you said was from a City fans' perspective & couldn't sound more Raggish if you meant it. It's impossible not to. In this Transfer forum, many of us are beginning to sound like those we despise & who despise us. Is this what playing success brings?

We're Manchester City & some of us need to remember who we are & where we've come from & how long it's taken us to get here & why.
