Just been offered a great deal with Virgin, I rang Sky retentions to see if they would match it or offer me anything as I have been with them for years. They offered nothing, they must be doing a fantastic trade at the moment.

Anyway with the full Virgin package is there any difference? I know there is no Sky Atlantic but virgin has the ESPN included which evens it out.

go for it ,ive got virgin after ditching sky....i aint looked back since, free hd channels, and movies on demand too....espn gave brilliant coverage of the fa cup including the final, which was excellent, ive got the xl hd package and im happy with it,thinking hard about getting the tivo box,if i can afford it!!

Just got virgin XL with 30Mb broadband and it's wonderful for streaming games. No freezing and constant refreshing on the games I've watched so far.

used to be you couldnt get the red button on sky sports (handy for recording sat night football first games) but i think virgin have introduced this now.
really there is no difference.

apart from the channel numbers being different, but you get used to that.

if its a great deal go for it.

Im with Virgin and i have weighed up the should i stay or switch to sky for some time now esp after 2 price increases in the last year or so from Virgin.

I decided to stick with Virgin as i really like thier TV on Demand which when you have the XL package is great. Tons of Music on demand, TV on demand etc inc entire series of some shows.

Sky has more channels (alot of obscure ones inc), more HD channels (virgin has all the main ones though ie BBC, Movies, Sports), has 100% better 3D TV choices and Sky Sports 3D and of course the red button. Virgin doesnt have any of these or the Atlantic channel.

I find though the TV on Demand more than makes up for this.

Also find virgins broadband excellent. I have a 20 meg package and always get over 19 meg.

Virgin also have the Tivo box, but do some homework on it before getting it if sold as some love it, some hate it. Im happy with my V+ HD box though so not interested in Tivo.

A good forum to look at sky/virgin related stuff is cable forum, esp the forums.

Can you get Sky Sports through virgin?

Yep and HD 1 and 2 but not sky sports 3 or 4 HD as yet + get sky sports news as part of sports package

am going to be all being well moving into a new build house in December, I am guessing that virgin will be installed and prob would prefer this rather than a dish as when it rains heavy the picture often distorts but without the option of sky Atlantic I seriously doubt I will leave sky
