Virgin train City Discount

It's shit, you get a better discount with better journey options buying a rail card.

Yep, 30% with a FOCs Railcard. And there seems to be railcards for every C, not matter what kind of C you are! But you might have to be a C. If yer not, it'll likely be full price. Anyway, some F has to pay full price so the Cs get their discount.

You have to buy a discount card. The Virgin Trains 20% discount is free to all season card holder's
Whethere you choose to use it or not is entirely up to the season card holder
I've used it several times but it's not giving me any discount this time ?

Yes, I use it all the time. Don’t book anything through trainline, as I’m sure they inflate the prices. Check out the price on the Virgin trains website (advanced tickets only), then log in to the City site, follow the Virgin link, enter your supporter number and the train ticket prices will appear with 20% off. You need to take your season card with you when you travel as it acts like a young person’s railcard

Are you able to travel alone with the City-Virgin trains 20% advance ticket discount? Or do you have to have someone else travel with you to use this discount?

I booked return ticket yesterday, to London for July - travelling alone. Only cost £48 (off peak)

Assuming the scheme’s still running again next season, yes. As long as you have your season card with you, you can travel alone

Thank you. The terms and conditions are quite unclear online, and so I read as 2 people travelling together. It says that the deadline to book tickets is March 2020, to use tickets during April 2020.
