I've just got a new PC, it's got exactly the same stuff installed on it as my old one, however I keep getting trojan Horse viruses while browsing the net (mininova.org).

AVG is blocking them, however I'm worried that this is happening, the only difference is that this PC is running Explorer 6 and my old one was running Exploer 7... could this be the problem?

Also If i delete the viruses out of AVG's virus vault... does that delete the infected file on the hard drive too?

any help appreciated muchly.

Seems a bit odd you get them when browsing mininova. I don't use AVG mate but a presume deleting them from the vault WILL actually delete them from the hard drive. Does AVG have a boot time scan? if so do it.

Also try Activescan, you need to allow the activex download, it will then scan your pc.

I changed to IE 7 and the problem seems so have stoped, the virus was located in the TEMP files so I just deleted all my cookies and temp internet files... just to be on the safe side. Also I'm running a full scan with AVG, which so far... hasn't found anything dodgy. I'll also try the scan you recommend just to be double sure.

Cheers Doc ;)

If you've got System Restore turned on there is a chance that infected files will be backed up along with your other system files. To delete it there you need to turn System Restore off and then back on again. You lose all your restore points in the process, though.
