Amount of work that has been done, the Tram Station Mercer Way is looking great to say the least, the tracks are in and the platform is complete on one side. The stairwells are in place and 2 large areas that look like they will be covered when finished have appeared either side at the top of Mercer Way maybe where you will get tickets I am not sure. Take away all the workmans stuff and once it is finished it is going to look superb.

The Shop is brilliant, back to all the kit being on racks and not them stupid table top type things they used last season to sell tee-shirts and tops and ended up looking like a jumble sale within mins.
Some great stuff in there as well and how they have made it look half the size again beats me, no items upstairs anymore just printing and ticket sales.

The East Side of the ground is now complete and ready for what ever the club have planned.
Looking great all round, some massive investments being made once again.

Well done City, looking good everywhere you look.

Thank for the update. Looking forward to my first visit. Bit disappointed that the metrolink still isn't ready yet. Are the roads still blocked along the metro route?

Came down from Ashton side and the roads just as bad as last season, a lot of work has been done over by Asda ref the link. It really does look good when you walk up Mercer Way, once you get over the Cannal it looks the best set up at any ground I have been to. Ok it was nice Sunny day and everything looks ready for the big KO but the club should get a big pat on the back for the kind of changes that are happening around the place.
But yes the roads from the East side coming down from Ashton are still a nightmare.

Have to agree, the metro stop at the ground looks really good. Ashton New Road is slowly taking shape (slowly being the operative word) but some of the barriers are down now on the New Road but if you are driving through Droylsden to the ground there are still roadworks there, allow plenty of time on a match day, can't wait....

Metrolink site now says the line past City to Droylsden will open in summer 2012 - it was due in the spring. I don't think they'd open bits of it. So Ashton New Road may still have construction work all this season and we'll not have trams to the stadium till next season (2012/13).

Will look something like this:

(taken from the website of the firm designing the canopies)

Some further info from June if anyone is interested:

I presume the function is so you can wait under cover for the next tram (then get wet going down the uncovered slippery stairs...)
