Visited the Ground today and was impressed with the

I read something somewhere, which I'm trying to relocate, that said they were hoping to open the Metrolink up to Asda by Feb next year, on closer inspection on a recent visit this does seem plausable.

They originally didn't put a set of points behind Asda, but now there is one there.

Metrolink were a bit 'pissed' at City because they had made all the signage for the area 'Eastlands' but City have said they want the stop to be called 'Etihad Campus', to fit the new name for the area.

Interestingly the Metrolink company made a bit of a boo-boo recently by putting maps up at certain stops that showed a route that was yet to be completed, which was 'BURY - ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE' so it would seem that trams will be running direct to the stadium from the Bury line, without having to change.

If the work's on time then it will be ready for the start of next season. The section near the stadium may look nearly ready but the whole line as far as Droylesden has to be completed, tested etc.

The covered areas on Mercer Way will be holding pens with turnstiles for after the match. They wiil work pretty much the same as getting into the ground as your ticket will be scanned electronically and the amount of people allowed in the pen will be the same as the capacity of the tram and as a tram approaches those people will be allowed to go down to the actual platform.

I've yet to read how many trams they're going to use on matchdays, unless they're about every 5 minutes for an hour both before and after the game it may be quicker to walk into town after the game.

Just to say, they have been doing some tram tests on the section up to Asda between the 15th and 31st July.

The thing you've gotta remember is it's alright having a tram stop but will it be reliable, all you hear on Radio Manchester is a section of one of the lines are down a replacement bus has been put on.
So we could be regular back to being squashed on a bus long after the lines open.

I presume the function is so you can wait under cover for the next tram (then get wet going down the uncovered slippery stairs...)

Fuck your so right they should supply us all with rolls royce cars after the game to stop moaning fuckers walking 50 feet in the rain

Disruption over aeons for something that I'd only use if it was free

The ASDA stop is actually closer to the stadium, so I can see everyone piling on and off there. I mainly use the trams to get to Old Trafford for the cricket, but tend to avoid them during international matches as they are a nightmare, and almost impossible to get onto, so I use the bus.

Does anybody know if any rebranding work has been carried out on the stadium itself? re Etihad packaging. Last time I looked on the telly it still had the city of manchester stadium packaging

Putting up the actual staion signs will be one of the very last jobs because people will nick them.
