I found yesterday a little OTT, but not egregiously so. You’d have to be made of stone to not feel some emotion when you look at the lad’s social media photos in the lead up to his death. So full of hope and joy. His body’s still not been found and he died in a way that many of us truly fear. Those factors will all have heightened fans’ emotions; so some outpouring was probably inevitable.
I guess it’s just symbolic of the age we live in. Public grief is now lauded, whereas sixty or so years ago it was discouraged and even frowned upon. Incredible social change, which inevitably has its good and bad points.
