It was Moss who sent Sane off for going in high on Ederson. Had Puncheon decapitated de Bruyne, Moss might, just might, have deemed it worthy of more than a yellow.

Mason will probably red card one of ours in the spirit of ‘protecting all players’ and in the spirit of protecting his own team’s hopes.

Maybe MANE.......

Question :?...Is Sanchez not available for the CL with City - having played for Arsenal.
Question.? - Is Stones fit again - maybe the bench ?....
Walker was Motm against Palace - after a shaky start - can see him playing tonight.
Merlin does appear to be back in training - so will play tonight. - I hope. I would not consider KdB for tonight.
Aguero , Sane need to score so that Sterling is not the lone man.

I think the rule is that you can add 1 player to your CL squad in January who has played Euro League for another club. So presumably Alexis Sanchez would be added to the CL squad if we manage to buy him.

i wish to apologize for our result at palace. I changed my routine and it obviously made the difference. So tonight i shall go back to my usual routine which is hence as follows, find a stream on my laptop, open bluemoon and watch the match commentary :-) on the match day thread, and flick occasionally to the match report on the bbc sport app on my phone as well.

its worked all season, apart from the palace game! :-)

3-0 home win

I agree. Aguero likes to come deep for the ball now, doesn't run in behind so often. Jesus constantly runs and so does Sterling when he is up front. We miss that more physical challenge at times. We should probably stick Otamendi up top with Sterling running off him. We keep the ball so well why do we need him in defence! Having said that, the run we have had, with that being the first time we have failed to score, we clearly do not miss that utility player too much.

It is now Jesus is injured we might have a problem. Does Pep alter his plan and decide Sanchez is needed now? I do not think squad harmony would be too disrupted. I assume he cannot play in Europe for us and we have enough games to rotate still.

The CL is a realistic prospect for us this year. Having Sanchez ease the burden domestically gives us a better chance to win it.

Sanchez is of more use now than at any other time before, or next season, imo. He would be great right now.

But I think the whole business of Sanchez has been a right pain in the arse & the worst handicap to the squad we have had.

If we needed another attacker & just signed one, to replace Kelechi, or had signed another cb, we would have had much smoother squad rotation, but we've had this Sanchez thing lurking, affecting our other moves in other positions & maybe still have it lurking, right through this window.

If we have promised Sanchez a job next season, we can't really sign a different forward now, only Sanchez,if available, which means going through the dance with that stupid old twat Wenger, who has no ambition other than to fuck people about, & then maybe still not getting Sanchez til summer anyway.

That's very gallant of you but no-one should willingly subject themselves to our match-day threads.

Ederson Walker Stones Otamendi Delph (if fit) Fernandinho Silva Bernardo Sane Sterling Aguero

If you get the weather we're getting at the moment later this afternoon/evening, bring a brolly. It's been pissing for about two hours now, and it's supposed to be heading eastwards from here.

Probably a fool's errand trying to guess the team without knowing the full extent of the injuries to Delph, Kompany and De Bruyne but here goes...

---------------------Ederson-----------------------
Walker ---- Stones ---- Otamendi ---- Danilo
------------------Fernandinho--------------------
---------Gundogan----------D. Silva-------------
Sterling------------Aguero-----------------Sane

Bench: Bravo, Mangala, Zinchenko, Yaya, Bernardo, Diaz, De Bruyne

I'd try to give Stones 60 minutes. If that's a bit optimistic then have Mangala start and Stones coming off the bench later in the game. There's always the chance that Kompany or Delph were being saved for this game, but if they weren't considered fit enough to make the bench on Sunday there doesn't seem any pressing need to rush them back as we've been fine defensively in their absence.

If we can get ourselves a couple of goals ahead during any of the next three home games i would want us to be giving Diaz as many minutes as possible. With Jesus out and Sane a little off form it'd be a real boost if he can prove himself a viable forward option for the second half of the season. However much we want him, i simply don't see Arsenal letting Sanchez go in this window so i think we need to work on finding solutions with the squad we have. I'm certainly not expecting Diaz to force his way into our first XI but i do think he can be used to ease the burden on those players and given our point advantage i'd actually prefer we took that chance in these winnable looking home league games than in the knock-out competitions.

Agree with this lineup, though I'm worried Leroy is getting a bit tired at the moment
