Hi Folks,

i was just wondering as a student studying english at the minute if anybody knows any ways into journalism for like a part time opening, hoping to do something in the sports side of journalism just to help me progress and hopefully do well as a writer as a result.

Speak to Lucky Toma mate, he is a bit ahead of you but he is knowlegable and a very nice guy so should have a few tips for you.

That fucker has access to video material we can only dream of laying our hands on.

Ask ''sports journo award nominated'' Mike Keegan at the MEN.
I seriously doubt he attended a journo course = all he does is cut 'n' paste stories from the internet / other papers and put on a sensational headline to grab Blue and red fans attention.

The best thing you can do mate is start a blog and get your words out there. Keep it updated, a worthwhile read and try to get it on to newsnow and if you're any good it will be noticed....
The lad who used to do http://tldorc.blogspot.com/ is now writing for the Independent and I should imagine the lad who writes View from a Blue should be on his way as well....
Also get on twitter and spark interesting debate with all the football journos and ask for opinion etc. you may get noticed and some good links....

There are a couple of professional journalists who post on here. I think Kinky by name is one. You might want to do a little research and drop them a line but I'm not sure your OP is much of an advertisement for a potential journalist.

Are you a student in Manchester?
If so, there is the students very own weekly Student Direct (or is it now called ''The Mancunian''?).
They will have a sports section who I'm sure would welcome your input.
