We are a better side. Why is our finishing poor?

luck plays a big part think of the end result strikes from bellers against chelski

shocked how tame the shooting was, maybe that break has NOT helped, we need a proper run of games to get some consistent form going, I've never experienced such a stop/start season, the fixtures are all over the place, not helpful at all

Today we could have won easily. Why is our end product poor?

I dont think we fashion that many clear cut chances, so when we miss them we really rue them. Teams like Spurs get 3-4 chances before bagging a goal, we seem to get a lot of half chances but no real cutting chances, maybe a couple a game.

I think we need a real strong centre forward to hold the ball up and bully the opposition defence, I'm hoping RSC can get match fit and be this player, as if we have a stronger presence upfront we will have more posession in the opposition half.

Also Mancini hit the nail on the head earlier this week, we are the Championship Cup Final for any team below 6th place - They find an extra 10% in their tanks and every ball is contested. Teams like Villa and Spurs dont get the same treatment because they arent as despised as we are right now.

Gordon is a good goalie in the mould of Given. He stopped the shots with his reflexes and legs if you let him set and shoot at him directly.
Our players shouldn't repeatedly shoot at him at the first opportunity but rather should make an extra pass to get him 'off' is my contention.
IMO When we do that we will have more players coming on, in sync & 'swarming' in the box.
Thats what I mean when our players made wrong choices or waste the opportunity!

I would say the finishing was poor at times today, but Gordon had a big say in that aswell. At Chelsea we had the luck and most of our chances resulted in goals.

Combination of outstanding keeper - piss poor shooting and wrong decisions but in truth this shit happens BUT playing like a bunch of wankers first half was the problem not out alleged "poor finishing"

Correct mate

a. just one of those days

b. another very poor 1st half performance in which we failed to deal with a team playing at a high tempo

If the rags had played like we did in the second half they would have won 6-1

Agreed. Why?
Other than the first goal. IMO we had a stalemate with them in the first half even tho we lost to them in the midfield. We made adjustments in our subs after tiring them knowing that they can't stave us off forever in the second half.

We had many opportunites in the second half. But then Our finishing decisions were bad, our shooting was tame, our strikers can't finish etc. viz a viz our inflexibility against goalie like Gordon.

My observation here is hopefully we learnt from here & make better mental adjustments next time on the fly. Mancini & AJ made them when they were on the sideline.

C'mon guys be pragmatic and constructive even if your favourite player needs some talking to!
