We need to address homegrown element and we need to do it now.

I think we should seriously consider signing at least one homegrown club trained player this window and pay the compensation also to get Denayer back.

If we do that we can potentially free up a couple of non club trained player spaces to get ichanebo and a new signing striker into our champs league squad.

I reckon Hennessy would be OK as a back up keeper (schmeichel I couldn't see being attainable) and if he came in with caballero going or at least not being picked in UCL squad we could get ichanebo in. I also think we should get denayer back and let MDM go and that could free up a space for a third striker.

I also would love to know whether Sturridge is finished or just suffering the curse of Liverpool strikers. I think Klopp would let him go and he could be added to both our prem and UCL squad without any other players leaving. Whether he could be bought cheaply, whether he could maintain fitness I don't know but he is a good enough footballer to be a back up to Sergio or behind in a three.

Signing a couple of ex academy players and getting denayer back could be the difference when injuries strike on a number of fronts

We won't be replacing Willy with someone like Hennessey, just not going to happen.

Denayer, I don't think we could even pay compensation to get him back. Plus he is only going to come back and sit on our bench. Pointless.

Sturridge would be 40m+ and we don't know his injury problems, stay well clear.

Signing a couple of ex academy players is all well and good on paper but when it comes too it they are simply not good enough and we need too be cutting the average players, not adding more!

Hennessy wasn't at City long enough to be club-trained for UEFA competition.

Schmeichel 100k a week it is then! Have heard good things about Karius too who has played getting on for a hundred bundesliga games now. We need to address this issue as it will not compromise the quality of the squad they are essentially free picks but it can enhance the depth and options

Or Keiren Westwood he's clubtrained too? Wasn't he rumoured here before we signed Willy?

Zieler is also excellent and counts as home grown given he came through at The Swamp. He isn't club trained but he is the German number 2/3, is only young and supposedly has a low release clause in his contract.

Can sum up the OP in simple terms.

"we're playing poorly so let's make our squad even worse by bringing in more HG tosh".
Not in the slightest, the post is saying we need another striker if not two in our champions league squad , how can we strengthen without having to drop players we need. Home grown doesn't matter, it's irellevant with the current make up of our squad it is club trained that does and we should consider how we get a club trained reserve keeper and a club trained 4th centre back in to ensure we have a squad that has the balance we need.

Wouldn't help we have Hart, sterling, clichy and Delph taking up those 4 spots already.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I read the post and realistically the only other HG player you'd consider is rony lopes who can't get a game for Monaco. We would be better off giving Evans a go and selling Fernando.
I'm curious to why anyone thinks we should be signing a new striker right now when we have Kun fresh back from injury, Bony at least contributing and Bach not getting a game?

Not directly but it would help because he is a much better option than Willy. He could actually put pressure on Hart.
Agree in that any time we can reduce the age of the squad whilst improving it we should. Point on Karius is that is a free spot!

You might be right in that sterling has looked. Great option playing in Europe on the break. Just think if we get to last 8 or 4 and have no aguero we need a proper Goal scoring striker in case bony is out of form, injured or we need another option . I worry we end up like we did a year ago where we had to play jimmy up front for a month.

I think we're all working on the assumption that Nasri will be out of the champions league squad and Kelechi will be in it.
