Welcome Bernardo Silva

Good interview on the OS.

Smart fellow with the right amount arrogance to be a very good footballer for us.

The first of at least 5 more signings that will be knocking for a spot in the first eleven.

Great start to the window and no doubt more younger hungry players to come.
Good to see you a lot more upbeat these days, mate.

Never mind ONE of the best ?............Welcome Bernardo......

Interesting stuff that mate. Depends on how you view our team but not sure we play with an out and out 10, more two 8s, Interiors with Silva the one more responsible for adding additional numbers in the box.

It is a real conundrum with De Bruyne. Personally I watch him some games and think he is more suited out wide with his pinpoint delivery but then you watch the pass against Arsenal or his threaded balls of late to Sane and you cannot but think he is perfect as an 8 also.

I think last season the continual missing of chances and lack of numbers in the box lends itself to playing both Aguero and Jesus in a wide position as we do not have enough players scoring. That leaves three places for me, two number 8s and one wide player and we have Silva, KDB, Gundogan, B. Silva, Sterling and Sane to fill those roles. It's why I wonder where he fits in.

What's the difference between a No. 8 and a No. 10, apart from one being an inside-right and the other an inside-left?

Only had to read a few posts on page one until I came across the classic from notquiteManc:

So fucking predictable, it's unreal.

You shouldnt make fun of Man U fans, since we can do the same thing with a lof of you guys here, that said when I suscribe before the M.City Monaco game and told that B.Silva was a top EU that I was a dush, he's not that good + play in a farmer league, etc etc. :)

Good article on why it's not working yet in the national team just put up on portugoal, well worth a read.

If we get a proper overlapping fullback, I think he'll play right wing a lot and drift inside like he does for Monaco, but in other games I can easily see him playing as the Iniesta to David Silva's Xavi, which I think is what Pep is transitioning Silva into. Kev is a bit of an odd man out, but he's too talented to not find a role

Its never as good as you think it could be and never as bad as you think it will get.

I always thought Pep would need time to change the squad to where it had to be for us to be competitive for titles. ( at least one season maybe two seasons )

Our recruitment in recent seasons with a couple of exceptions wasn't sufficient to be super competitive.

I have little doubt we will be more competitive in years to come despite the dips and bumps that inevitably happens as we learn from our mistakes.

Time will tell but I haven't wavered from that for sometime despite my negativity from time to time in the here and now.

We are getting the front half we want and need for home and abroad.

The back I think will be exiting as well come August.

It's a fair question mate. I would say number 8s are more heavily involved in the build up play and have greater responsibility defensively than a 10. Silva and KDB often come deep to collect the ball, especially Silva who will pop up all over the pitch to dictate the game and link the play. Also if you consider we only play with Fernandinho or Yaya behind they have a lot more work to do to maintain shape and provide cover centrally.

To me that's a bit different to the role of a 'traditional' ten like Bergkanp, Cantona etc.

"I will be a Monaco's player for all my life"

<3

All in all it was just a very short live to thanks Monaco fans, he globaly said that he we'll always be a Monaco guy, that he will come back to see his team mates and friends, that he left cause he wanted to see something else after 3 wonderfull years, and he was a special fan of David Silva (I don't remember if he said it in english or french).

You can see at his attitude that I wasn't joking about the true love relationship those lads had together. He seems really tuched when it comes down to his ex-team mates.

I think you can really thanks Mendes for this deal. I'm 100% sure he wouldn't have leaved on this own now (i had doubt since he kept sayin in every interview that he didn't know if he will stay or not cause he wasnt the decisionner and didn't talk to his agent).

I feel an ABBA song coming on...

Great signing Txiki out!! ;-)

Utter gnat's piss. Reminds me of a piece of graffiti at the time: "Why is drinking Watneys like making love in a punt?"

"Because they're both fucking close to water".

Those were the days when brewers didn't have to disclose the alcohol content of their beer. Turns out Red Barrel was only a few degrees above the level where it could have been sold through supermarkets (Yes then beer wasn't available in Tesco etc). Amazing thing was some did manage to get pissed on it. Proving the placebo effect.
