Welcome Nolito

Now, this I don't understand.

In the other thread I said I thought he was poor in the Euros, "shocking" is the word I used, in fact.

The other other interesting/ alarming thing he says in his vid, is that he was 'a whisker away from being in the 'elite' team'. He played under PG once, according to him; so Guardiola obviously let him go.

Why?

And then sign him for us at 29?

I don't like the dynamics of this, at all.

Some players mature at different rates. He has matured as a player later than most, a bit like Vardy. Pep obviously knows him well as a player and feels like he is ready to make the step up.

He must be shit, I've never heard of him, he's too old, he didn't cost £30m and he's not injured.

Welcome Nolito

4 year deal for someone who turns 30 in a couple of months.

Doesn't really fit the profile of the type of player I thought we'd be doing for.

Interesting to note the tone of this thread and the last few pages of the thread in the transfer forum compared to the posts when we were first linked with him ;-)
Yeah. I thought the first pages in the transfer thread were a bit odd. Most probably hadn't seen much of him and they were based on one performance where he went offside a few times.

Good to see some of you criticzing the transfer already and he hasnt even kicked a ball for us yet well done!!!

I don't know exactly how good he is at Celta but just want to point out, Barca didn't let him go, he chose to leave despite Barca's contract offer.

I'm especially disappointed that this will end the Delph playing on the left experiment...Great signing, welcome Nolito!

Apart from Aguero we hardly got any functional strikers.. Kelechi is still a youngster in many ways, as for Bony, it simply doesn´t work does it?

I think we will see him in a similar role to the one David Villa used to play from time to time. Starting out on the left but making intelligent runs in behind into central positions. He's clearly not as good a finisher as Villa but does offer a little bit more creativity.

It will be interesting to see how he works with Silva who worked incredibly well with Villa at Valencia.

Hopefully Nolito gives Silva the option of that little ball in behind the full back and centre half that he does so well. He just hasn't had the option for the past couple of seasons!!

Welcome to City. I'll be reserving my judgement until I've seen him in a blue shirt. Saw his performances in the euros and it's fair to say a mixed bag. A couple of good games a couple average but nowhere near enough for me to make a claim one way or another.
Let's see what he brings to the party.

Welcome, Nolito!

Should be a good squad player. Pretty good addition considering the fee. We should get a few good season's out of him, then our youngster's will be ready to take his place.

Yes he's 29. Yes he's not come to be the difference between winning the CL and not winning it. But equally he's obviously someone Guardiola has chosen to sign. For the moment at least, baring in mind that he's played under Pep previously, I reckon I can give both the player and the manager the benefit of the doubt. Like I said, it might well be that part of the reason behind signing him is so that there's a hard working example of what Pep expects from his wingers/wide forwards in training when the likes of Sterling and Navas arrive for preseason training.

You shouldn't discount the fact that he has been coached previously by Pep. I think that's the key thing in this signing.

Only the ones against good teams
Then see his performances against real madrid and Barcelona. Double figures in goals 3 seasons running from out wide in la Liga and one of the most creative players 3 seasons running too.

I think he's going to quickly become a fans favourite because he's got talent, and he just drives at the goal.
