chaps,

Chelsea fan here who reads this board occasionally.

We often have the Green Man at Wembley as well - while it is very big, the place always, always sells out of beer early on. Also, they never have enough staff for the size of the pub, so it can easily take 30 mins + to get a drink.

They are however pretty relaxed about you taking tins into the garden when the queues get too long. There's an off licence just round the corner from the pub.

cheers mate :)

-- Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:02 am --

One small favour, please kick the scum off the park and out of europe in the midweek before please :)

Re: Which london pub are we turning blue then?

re - cost of pints. I honestly can't remember. I'm struggling to think if I've ever actually been served in there! If it's a nice day they often set up a makeshift bar in the (huge) beer garden. The area itself is an absolute dump, one of the worst places in London, so I doubt it's particularly pricey.

Hopefully between us we'll be knocking United out of two competitions in a week...

Re: Which london pub are we turning blue then?

I go in the Green Man every year for the Challenge Cup Final. Believe me, service is a bloody nightmare. Queueing twenty minutes plus for a drink is the norm, longer if you are weak at the bar!:)

They have a cans table outside but often there can be a 100 or so queuing in that. Bouncers are exceptionally strict on you bringing your own ale in. It will just not be tolerated.

If it's atmosphere you want, it will be fantastic. If it's a good session, you'll be screwed. My suggestion would be to get you load on before going in, then just top up with one or two in there.

Re: Which london pub are we turning blue then?

DD: oddly, I was going to say the opposite. Chelsea fans often bring loads of cans in from the off-licence round the corner. Interesting that you've had a different experience.

Anyway, I'll leave you chaps to it. Enjoy.

Nice one mr chelsea fan, can imagine the bouncers being more strict as cockneys don't like mancunians do they. I hope 2pm is an alright time to arrive at.

Exactly the same at England games, never been stopped from bringing cans in, but I suppose if you turn up with a box under each arm then they may get a little shirty about it, but a few cans in a carrier bag has never been a problem.

I'm down for the England v Ghana game next week and will have a chat with the landlord regarding what he is doing about can sales etc in the beer garden.

'Tis me who has arranged it. ;-)

As some have already mentioned The Torch will be a designated rag pub for the day as it is on the side they are located and the Green Man and St Joseph's Social Club have been designated City pubs.

The Green Man has a huge beer garden and if it is raining marquees will be erected. On the day there will be a barbeque and other food available outside as well as portable bars, so saves you having to queue up and struggle through the crowd inside the pub for a drink! There's also plenty of space for hanging flags outside.

Entry is by showing your match ticket and coaches of 35 seats or over park for free - although there are limited spaces and you have to come through me to book a space. Please don't ring the pub as the staff will only give you my number! There is a charge for minibus's.

There are accessible toilets in the pub but from experience at England games at Wembley, the bar gets so packed that they are actually rather difficult to get to if you are in a wheelchair!

The pub is at the top of (a very steep) Wembley Hill (Dagmar Road). For those walking it, head to the Wembley Plaza Hotel and Dagmar Road is facing it. The pub is literally a five minute walk from the end of Wembley we've been located.

If you require any further info, just drop me a pm and I'll get back to you ASAP.

sounds great mate good info blue cant wait now!
